So hard to understand the absolute silence from PreSonus on the future of this potentially great product. I'm surprised that anyone (who does a little homework) would buy one of these new. Also surprised that sellers (e.g. Sweetwater) don't put a disclaimer on their websites: Caution, won't work with many newer PC computers, won't do USB3, won't work with newer Macs etc etc.

I feel fortunate that my 1818 is working even with it's clunky UI, but continue to look for an alternative unit that will do the same tasks and is currently, actively supported by it's manufacturer.

This train ain't coming. No point waiting, despite years of empty promises. It's only a matter of time until it's officially discontinued. Cut your losses and get back to making some music!

I don't think they realise the damage done to the brand.
Focusrite 18i20. An '1818' that actually works as advertised and has great support!! But Presonus will continue the story it was all my systems and there is no hardware issue with the 1818 and the drivers are great.

Almost two years on and Presonus continues to say it's a 'top priority' but have no driver updates, make excuses and blame others (Intel, USB3 Microsoft, Apple and now the company that writes their drivers!) when other companies have it all working on the same systems!! And it so refreshing to get regular software updates and responsive and effective support!

And the 1818 does not have 'on-board DSP' as continues to be claimed.

davidrupert wrote:The USB drivers for Presonus hardware (and many others) were actually written by these guys: www.thesycon.de
I corresponded with them to see if they were working on a driver-based solution, but they basically said "probably not" and referred me back to Presonus.

And this is what Presonus said:

I don't think he claimed you did. You said it did not work as advertised. He said his was working just fine. Everyone is entitled to post their opinion on here as long as they follow forum etiquette. That includes you.

Yes, everyone is entitled to their opinion...

But posting something like : "oh, sorry to read yours don't work, mine does" is not constructive and does not help anyone.

For the poster who wrote in trying to get some help, it is a bit condescendent and makes the original poster feel like he/she is stupid to not know how to make his unit work.

It's called respect and being helpful, in my book of moral etiquette. I thought that was why forums like this were initiated.

And of course, that is my opinion, that I am posting right now.

Look perceval....the guy said that the 1818 DOES NOT WORK as advertised. I'm sorry but that is incorrrect. Having problems getting a device to work on YOUR system and asking for help and claiming that the device DOES NOT WORK are two entirely different scenarios.

That is NOT my opinion. It is a fact and I have every right to state it.

It's called respect and being helpful

Oh is that what you're doing here?

I guess when I said as advertised I should have said something different, the facts are I open my ipad app and in the demo version it has channel naming so one would think if you open the app it would have channel naming.
I'm not sure who wrote the app but it does lead one to believe channel naming is part of the app.
A mixer that can support 18 channels for a live show, would work much better with channel labeling.
How many of you would sent up a 16 ch. mix and not label the channels?
My reply wasn't meant to be rude to that guy, it was simply to the point. If he had replied more directly to my post , as he did in a later post,
my response would have been different ......

You and everybody else. A new driver was released for the VSL series less than a month ago and drivers are still under development.
While I agree that channel naming is a VERY desirable feature, there are still issues that need to be FIXED before Presonus can
think about adding features.
