Scout's pledge, no more tech support (a.k.a. "...mostly telling people things that are already clearly described in the manual...") outside of the tech support board.

My brain was damaged at Woodstock, I keep forgetting not to do that ... I'll try harder.

P.S. I still think we should deport Johnny. Anyone that nice has no real business being on the Internet.

I think it was but I can't remember much of anything from that week or from a few trips to Mexico. I was ... there ... and then I awoke in the hospital with no eyebrows and no pubic hair. They tell me I had lots of fun though.

I'll have to check the old photo albums to make sure it was actually me.

Hey, had I known, that futher mucker would have been added to the pile of dead bodies under my front porch. Of course, since I am now dismembering my victims, I should have a bit more room.

Personally I don't get what your problem is. The guy isn't trying to report anyone to the feds, he's basically saying, hey I paid for mine, and I think if you want to use it, you should pay for it. Until you do, I'm gonna see if I can make sure you don't use it for free. Morally he's right. He's not looking to send the guy to jail. Maybe you can clear it up by telling us why you're so pro pirating. I'm not trying to disrespect you, I'm just having a hard time understanding your view point.

It seems like you just generally support crooks or you have a softspot for non-contributing zeros, but i don't want to jump to conclusions so I figured maybe an explanation might help me wrap my mind around it.

Omg, look at the topic where it goes.

Guys, i was trying to keep this quality at high level. Personally I do not care if someone using cracked softwares, or don't pay taxes etc.

I really don't care if you are using it without asking for help here. But you are going to use a illegal copy of s1 and yet still show yourself here and ask for help from those experienced s1 user.

Do you think this is fair?

I understand if you don't have money or something then go download it illegally but never come here and ask for help. You are taking or times for nothing. You do not support presonus via purchasing stuff and still you are there o suck presonus blood. You are not smarter then anyone else here. Or we are not that rich to pay any piece of software. We are just trying to support presonus because, after years of producing - mixing - mastering finally we have found our lovely software here in this website.

As a licensed user, I feel like I have to protect Presonus copyrights to have more powerful DAW.

Personally, the mentality of the web has always been in an immature way, as long as it's on to net it's free so I'm not shocked or surprised. As I've stated before, Jonathan and other staff have been pretty good so far about ferreting cracks so I don't worry to much myself at least enough for me to be proactive i.e. report them. I look at it as it's kind of hard to tell if I don't have access to account info to figure out if someone is legit so it would be hard for me to make that call. Usually a crack will make a mistake that will blow their cover enough to be found out.

I would hate to think, what if they went to a more secure method such as an iLok or an even more obtuse C/R registration.I don't want that and I don't think I'm alone on that. As far as others here who mock your concerns, that's part of being on the net where everybody has a say. I would hope that honesty would win the day myself but some hide behind what the think is anonymity.

You can chalk your post up as attempt for fairness and leave it at that as some opinion will not be swayed otherwise, as for the mild hijacking by the crew well there is another example of the web, camaraderie.

Keep up the faith my friend.

Whoa. A thread about pirating PreSonus Studio One? I could go on for DAYS about my views on piracy.

But I'm a freeware guy so you know what side I'm on.

Instead of bashing people who pirate, I try to sway them to use near-equal freeware. In this case the mentioned "pirater", I would suggest using "Zynewave Podium[Free]".

Zynewave[A.K.A. "Frits"] is a good guy, and I found him through my Russian good friend because I am against piracy, and was nearly giving up because it seemed no developer offered non-crippled DAW's I could get started on. Anyway- After I got Podium[Free] it took me a bit to learn, but once I got it, it just kept me going. It's not a bad program at all, the ONLY limitations is:

"PLUGIN multicore processing is reduced to one core".[This mean the DAW still uses all cores, if you have a multicore system, but processing plugins within the program use only ONE core]
"Rewire is disabled"[Haha, I still don't know the full benefit of it, but I never used it anyway ]
"Surround Sound editing[?] is disabled".[I'm not a movie scorer so I don't need that anyway]
"You can only download the 32bit version of the Free version. The 64bit version is if you chose to pay for the full version.[Which is only 50$, and removes all limitations]"

Other than that, that is the BEST stable freeware program on the market[in my opinion], with no real bad limitations. And I've tried them all. [so far]DarkWave Studio, LMMS[Linux Multimedia Studio], Aodix, etc. The advantage of Podium[Free] is you can produce albums, EP's, anything you want in it and make money off of it and not violate any law or user agreement from Zynewave. Plus in my own opinion it is not heavily crippled.[No offense PreSonus on Studio One Free, but hey, it's crippled not being able to use your own VST library, but I understand completely! ]

Now that being said, I learned that is a great "starter/intermediate" program, but does not have a lot of features I would have wanted, like time stretching and such, but if's it not a priority on your music production, then you can either find workarounds or just ignore it.

Short story about me?
I worked a part time job, lived with my "parent".
Saved up birthday money and any money I could save
Bought the PreSonus Audiobox USB bundle from my local Guitar Center[250$, but then I waited for Guitar Center to get a deal on "if you spend $$$ we'll take X-Amount off! So technically I spent like 232$ or less, but made sure it qualified for the discount...]
Used the crossgrade ability to buy Producer for 100$[because it comes with a full version of Artist]
Best f---ing 350$ I ever spend in my life. Still think in a way I cheated, but technically I didn't.

Like Mom said:
If there is a "will", there is a "way".

If you ever read this[whomever you may be] try Zynewave Podium[Free]. Sign up for the forum, it's nice there also. There creator of the DAW also helps and replies to your posts as well, and he is a busy man, but he finds time to reply. I'm not here to bash you or offend you for using pirated software, it is your choice, but I would like you to go the route I took, you will learn a lot more about producing, CAN apply it to any DAW you decide to purchase in the future[BUY PRESONUS LOL ], and you won't regret it. I hope this helps you a lot and any others trying to seek help for starting out in music production with little or no funds to purchase software.

Also, do NOT believe "REAPER"[another DAW] is FREE. It is NOT FREE. Simply clicking "still evaluating" after the [new] 60 day trail is violation of the terms of service and agreement you agree when installing REAPER. So go with Podium[Free].

And avoid LMMS and DarkWave Studio. They have a LOT of work to do with those DAW's.

Here's a link to Zynewave's site: http://www.zynewave.com
