Sorry about hijacking the thread. I am just very passionate about S1. LOVE IT. I hate it when clients come in and request things that it can't do. Just hurts to open protools or Sonar.

One of the reasons I adopted was that I saw Jonathon on these boards constantly. He actually posted a reply to me once for support at 2am. That kind of dedication deserves my money.

As far as buying Vegas....no thanks. It can not do what Studio One does...nor is it even supposed to.

While I have your ear Jonathon.....how about controller support? Help me out man...give me some hope.

Those programs are for video editing. Writing music to film is still audio and post audio production

okay.

that's true.

BUT

where is it going to STOP?

i mean, there's A LOT under the "music-to-film" and "post-audio production" umbrella.

I haven't read all of the replies yet, but I'm loving this idea. No, it's probably not the feature requests people are looking for but what it can potentially accomplish for Producers and Artist takes insight and forethought.

I give thumbs up.

Definitely a nice addon for folks who look to sell their tunes right out a daw. Some others may decide they will get it mastered from a mastering house, etc.. etc.. either way, nice thing from them.

I'm more interested in what's really coming though,I feel like S1 has alot of potential to be the best of the best, and we're lacking alot of support for midi, this covers controllers and the sorts. I'd hope Summer Namm 2012 is better then the last few for S1.I've been here since day 1 and I wanna see this daw grow maturely. As I'm sure the other folks do..

I keep saying to myself, I hope this isn't all they have planned.

Sorry, I'm not Jonathon nor am I at the DAW right now, but you can assign any cc (that includes button presses on any controller) to any S1 command. Added to that you have control link.

Help me out, what else could one want? What am I not understanding here?

Nope.....only midi cc messages can be assigned. Many controllers (like the cs700c) use a combination of midi control numbers and midi note sends. RIght now, I have to use Bomes midi translater as a go between.

Do you have a motorized surface? I am betting not, because you would know what the problem was. When you send automation to a fader, instead of a nice, smooth motorized fader motion, it jerks up and down and is very loud. Sonar, Cubase, Protools all have much better mackie protocol Implementation.

Ok. Gotcha.

There had been lots of complaints about mainstream stuff, Anxioms, Nocturns etc transport controls, which is now a no brainier .

Sounds like there's still a-ways to go with motorised faders etc. Thanks for the clarification.

No problem. The addition of MIDI mapping recently was definitely a step in the right direction. It just does not really help us at all with our mackie issues. Here's to hoping they knock this outta the park at NAMM.!

To go off-topic a little further...

This is key. Unfortunately for businesses, and ultimately for customers, this behavior is extremely rare. The bean counters can never correlate this to the bottom line, and eventually they (well, the management they advise) put a damper on it. Here's hoping that doesn't happen to PreSonus!

bigboi wrote:I hope you guys understand that I am not knocking the DAW.....heck...I switched from Sonar to S1. Read the post...it says "love the DAW". It just seems to me that Presonus is not interested in fixing things that are needed by professional studios.

The press release might have been misleading. Nimbit is a service independent from Studio One that anybody can use, not just Studio One users. This service has been build by a completely independent team. We have only built an extension that makes it easier for Studio One users to upload to Nimbit.

I can assure you that the development team is working on the next update to Studio One. We are addressing the deficiencies you mentioned, which includes video playback under Windows 64 bit. If you want to help us prioritize, please send me a list (with PM) of the issues that you think needs to be addressed most urgently.

another fantastic part about Nimbit is who THEY'RE partnered with.
lots of cool stuff going on. you can upload to Nimbit, and do the direct-to-fb thing, but they can also hook you up to itunes, amazon, grooveshark, spotify, etc etc etc. do a little digging. this is truly truly fantastic for the indie artist/band. all you have to worry about is copyrighting, and promotion. ALL of the major outlets (and then some, like facebook) are at your fingertips.

very VERY cool addition, guys.

it's almost a shame i don't make any of my own music these days.

Some people are like slinkies. They don't have a purpose, but they bring a smile to your face when you push them down the stairs.

Indeed...Ditto is another one of NimBits partners

Something else worth menitioning...this deal gives PreSonus a huge platform to also reach existing Nimbit users with their products. StudoOne is the most obvious fit and likely the biggest beneficiary but with so many Audio related hardware offerings it is a huge opportunity for PreSonus to reach (offer their products to) more musicians...in a big way.

Also at a stroke PreSonus now have a huge amount of credibility and presence in the publishing and selling arena for musicians at pretty much any level.
