And then it's actually really ready, not almost-but-we-will-release-anyway.

Yep. It is the best way to develop a DAW IMO. It simply cannot be rushed if a dev wants the best return on their investment. PreSonus definitely understand that.

Well...I think based on what's been said, that it's coming in second half of October, which is encouraging.

I believe the unprecedented feature will be a variation of track freeze. Presonus dude sort of said that, I think, but the statement could be referring to something else as well.

Wonder if there will be any new plug-ins or just updates for the existing ones?

The leak to Musicradar did not come from us, such is the nature of preparing the retail channel for release I suppose. So, the 'release' date is not quite accurate, but do know that we're working hard on getting it out to you. And like many of you have commented, rest assured you won't get a half-baked release. We will have tons of info when we do announce, including videos, etc, and we're having a lot of fun during these final stages of what is sure to be (IMO) a huge release.

And the best part is that 2.0 is just the beginning of a new phase for us, many things are planned within the 2.0 lifetime that I think will really blow people away.

Thanks for your continued support and interest.

Jonathon, thanks for the update.

As a recent migrant to S1 pro, I like what I see, and much appreciate the quality and stability. I hope for even greater things in S1 v2 and hope the upgrade costs aren't too high so I can join in ASAP

Cheers

Why is track freeze still a big deal? I used to use it when reverbs used to eat 40% of my CPU, but on today's computers it's not really an issue. I really don't see how track freeze or any variation of it can be labelled "unprecedented".

It's not unprecedented, and I doubt it's revolutionary thing. But for people that also use VSTi's that can be CPU hungry (lots of samples loaded in RAM), freezing can be very welcome solution for managing resources on complex projects.

I agree that track freezing is nothing new, but it was stated that something better than that is coming, which might be something very new .

For me track freezing is a big deal. I wasn't going to buy Studio One until I heard that a similar feature was coming in version 2.

I just got a new computer with a really fast CPU, and I have a UAD duo and a quad card, and I already maxed everything out in one song that isn't close to being finished.

But it sounds like there are various goodies coming.
