How does Valhalla's CPU usage compare to S1 v2 room verb and openair on your systems?

Well since I got Waves RVerb for $39 last summer I can't really complain. I love the plate reverb on it for vocals.

One of these days I've got to sit down and figure out how to use my Lexicon MX300 as a hardware VST plugin. Now that I have that capability with S1 that I didn't have with Pro Tools.

I used the IK Multimedia CSR for many years and enjoyed it until I got SSL X-Verb. I'm afraid CSR doesn't get used much (if at all) any more.

I would recommend you to try the outcome of my filters simulating the reverberation of ancient theatre with very good results.

https://sites.google.com/site/pwojdyllo/sound-processing/ancient-theatre

Be sure to check also the examples for the bundle of two new filters (different sound propagation model, same ancient theatre) applicable to the vocals https://sites.google.com/site/pwojdyllo/sound-processing/vocal
and instrumental parts https://sites.google.com/site/pwojdyllo/sound-processing/instrumental.

It would be great to have your opinions how you would position them. I'm planning to get them available but want to know whether they are worth it.
Thanks.

ArtsAcoustic, Valhalla Vintage, 112db Redline, 2caudio Aether or Bricasti Impulses with some covultion reverb? Any thoughts about 2013 best reverb?

From all forums I've read, seems that Valhalla, Aether, AAR and Bricasti impulses seems to be the most rated and loved reverbs. Really difficult to pick up the VERY best one...

valhalla is great for the price but i also like PSP Pianoverb for a lot of things. here is a sample of Pianoverb1 which you can get for FREE by creating a PSP account and going to the your user area.

https://soundcloud.com/jaybranam/pianoverb1

i am sure Pianoverb2 is better and although it is not using IR's you can't beat free for the price!

For me, it's Lexicon PCM... and everything else. They sound great immediately.

I also like using the tape recorded IR's from Morevox.

Wow, really surprised so little is mentioned about Open Air. I'm just a big fan of convolution reverb, and Open Air is very rich sounding, once you have it set right.

Of course I've always been a fan of the Lexicon 224 through the years, and PCM. Sonnox is quite versatile but I thing it lacks that real transparent reverb sound, but its smaller room reverbs are pretty convincing. Altiverb 7 is obviously up there in quality as well.

I'm really liking Open Air though. With 6 band Parametric EQ and add some parallel side bussing and it's pretty great software conv reverb. JMO.

Hey, reverb is a beautiful thing, and a personal one at that.

myself i tend to think of reverb and IR's as different. i tend to texture the instruments with the reverb then add air and space with IR's on the whole piece and all i use for that is OpenAir.

as for the pianoverb1 example... i ran the effect up to 52% which is high... just wanted people to actually hear the smoothness of the plug.
