Firewire diffrence between mac/pc ??

I have a 16.0.2 normaly hooked up on a windows pc with firewire card, running without problems.
And a 24.4.2. running on a Mac on the build in firewire port, running without problem.

but if i connet the mac to the 16.0.2 data starts and stops all the time, the connection don't come with any failure
I't seems that controlling the mixer is not a problem but contionuesly data like music

can a firewire port be "dead" on mac but not on windows or any ideas ??
