Hello

I have successfully connected the SL1642 to my Macbook Pro and everything was working fine.
Then I went to do the firmware update and about 2/3rds of the way through it has stopped and been that way for half an hour and now I am beginning to wonder if something has gone wrong

I didnt lose power, and I was reading a pdf not wanting to launch anything while updating.

How long should I wait and what should I do if it is hung?

PS: It is at the "Opening Definition File" progress bar, approaching the ::FIRMWARE UPDATER:: text on the bar

Jeesh... I feel like I'm a PC

Waiting more than a few seconds is too long. Although it says not to interrupt the process, sometimes you have to.

My SL16 hung up on the updater. I waited about 30 minutes. I restarted both the SL and the computer and began the updater process, again.

The updater took less than a minute, from what I recall.

Thanks fir the reply

Actually I figured out the problem...

When I first got my Sl I updated it on my PC.

When I went to install it on my Mac tonight, the updater looked at the board and I guess the software figured it to be out of date.
I am now guessing that the updater that comes on the disk is not so smart and after I installed the updated Universal control from the website, it saw that the board was up to date.

No harm no foul, all is well, just one hell of a scare for a while

This digital world of ours is always fun when that kind of stuff happens. Kinda like when the first parachute doesn't open.

Glad you got sorted.

I remembered going through the same thing with my 16.4.2. Thank goodness Mono helped me get it sorted out. I've said this before, but I think Presonus could avoid a lot of these snafus by simply pointing everyone to an easy to find download section on the web site where folks can download all the latest and greatest drivers and other related software. I may be missing something but it seems that Presonus is holding the UC drivers really close to the chest so to speak. Installing the drivers from the CD that comes in the box gave me all sorts of hassles. Installing the latest drivers off the web site fixed everything. Shoulda......coulda........ woulda.........
Keep it simple.

Oh I soooo agree brotha!
A simple link instead of having to drill down and all around. I am pretty persistant about things and managed to get sorted out, but if I weren't or maybe if I weren't as tech savvy, I could easily see people just giving up in frustration.

Thanks guys.

Im loving my SL1642 and other gear

Hey Old Dude,

Thats ok the Capture software identifies your SL as a Firestudio system and thats a bit misleading for a new user and I had doubts myself. But thats a normal indication that you have a good connection.

You can get the latest UC software for your mac here;

http://www.presonus.com/technical-support/downloads/drivers-software/

Just scroll down until you see the model SL you have and click the link for Mac OS/Snow Leapord. It will allow you to download the latest UC and that version worked fine on my Macbook Pro

Good luck!

NONOONOOOOO

he is using a G5 wich means the latest Uni Control does not work..

You will need to contact tech support so they can send you the files via email or whatever they do now for one of the earlier firmware updates that supported G5's, its a total cop out they do not display this file on the downloads page. They really need to appoint some community moderators here so they can make some sticky threads with all this info in it

Hey Kibo,

If you're saying that things aren't changing when you drop in a scene from VSL, make sure you turned all of the settings back to on in the SL. In an upgrade it will turn all the locators (knobs and sliders) to off.

If that isn't it, give a yell.

hi mono,

thanks for the reply. i tried to force firmware update and it is ok now. im having a hard time with mac coz this is my first time to own one. i was not planning to buy this soon coz i still have to take care of the Systune and buy an audiobox or sumting but my pc broke and bestbuy says its un economical to repair it so i had no choice but to buy a computer and thought that a Mac would be a great. even if its not in the budget. just close my eyes and say no turning back. hehehe. it was so timely also that i had the chance to renew my contract for my cellphone and got an iphone 4. i just tried it with iteleport. it seems great but it is so difficult to use. hard to point on the sliders and control them.

i think an ipad would be great. if i have an ipad do i still have to pay for the iteleport that i had purchase for my iphone. just asking!

thanks so much...

kibo

Wish I cold answer that one for you.

I made it a strong point not to ever own anything with a lower case "i" in the front of its name. I'd say your cell provider would be your best hope for a good answer on that question.

I think there are other ways than iTeleport to connect an iPad to your Mac. I'd check into those first. Could save you a lot of money and headache. You might also be able to get a low cost netbook to do the job as well. You wouldn't have touchscreen capability but If you're ok with the touchpad controls it should work just fine.

If you open itunes, down the left hand side under "library" click the "app" section. iTeleport is listed as an iPhone, iPod Touch and iPad App.

Hey Phil I have the same problem with my studiolive 24 except that I'm trying to use it with a Powerbook G4 with OS 10.5.8. Do you think that this might be an option for me to
