I recently got a new laptop(Dell Inspiron) and an Audibox USB bundle for Christmas. I installed all of the Presonus software perfectly fine, but when I go to install the Audiobox driver it fails everytime. I put the CD in that originally came with it, and start the installation process, but everytime it gets close to the end of finishing it tells me that I need to plug in the Audiobox USB. Yet, everytime I connect the Audibox to my USB port, a message pops up on my screen saying that the device is unrecognizable. This is getting very frustrating because this is a brand new laptop. Im not very technologically advanced whatsoever, so if I could receive some clear help that would be greatly appreciated!

Thank you.

Hi,
We need your computer specs... including processor, speed, ports, OS all that....Look at my signature line and you'll see what kind of info is required to see if we can help...

Hopefully your not using a new intel ivy bridge processor and only USB 3.0 ports....

Geez... sorry it took so long...This forum is broken and we can't fix it, were migrating...

Ok, but to the problem at hand... All USB ports are not equal, if you can find out what the primary one is that would be good...

GO to the Knowledge base....
http://support.presonus.com/forums

Do this, (from the list under Audiobox USB in the KB) this will clear out any traces of the old driver...

Then Pick the best USB port you can... install it on that port and DO NOT MOVE IT TO ANY OTHER PORT! The AB USB is a port specific device...

Download this driver:
AudioBox USB Driver v2.8.40 - PC
here:
http://www.presonus.com/support/downloads/AudioBox-USB

DO NOT PLUG THE AB USB IN DURING THE INSTALLATION PROCESS!

When you have the download, instal the drivers without the AB USB hooked up. When prompted to do so, plug in the device and finish the process...

Best regards

Is this a new AB USB? if so you might have a bad one... start a tech ticket right away...

You bought it 6 months ago and just now you've discovered it's not working? Or did you have working previously with another
computer?

is that all the advice you have left?

Given the description of your situation, that is exactly what I would suggest as well.

I finally got my Audiobox USB to work after 2 weeks of hassling. I found out that the USB connector cable that I was given was faulty. The problem I am now faced with, is my microphone. When I go to record tracks the Mic is making a high-pitch noise, almost like it's resonating. If any of you could give me suggestions to this problem it would greatly appreciated!
