Am I the only one who would like to see an update for this product or at least a projected date?
It's been a long time, and they say it's coming.
It would make a great Christmas gift for the folks at Presonus.
Maybe if this topic gets a lot of responses they might just think about it!

They are indeed working on it. And, in fact, I can tell you exactly when it will be released.
On the day it's ready. I know it's been a long time coming. I've been waiting for it myself.
But, personally, I would rather continue to be patient and have it done right than try to
rush them into releasing something half-baked.

But, yeah, it would make a GREAT Christmas present!!

It's been over two years w/o updates to the vsl software. Don't hold your breath. Something else must have greater priority at Presonus. Weird, because the AB1818 remains the ONLY unit of its kind on the market, i.e. USB Interface with live sound zero-latency monitoring WITH EFFECTS. (E.g. Focusrite's new Scarlett 18i20 does NOT have effects for live monitoring, otherwise it would be stealing potential AB1818 customers).

Just some relatively simple updates to the Mixer software's UI would make it much, much easier to use. (And keep those of us currently using the AB1818 from looking elsewhere).

"They're working on it" is not very helpful or heartening. Now, a projected DATE for an update from a Presonus team member would be very nice indeed.

Not going to happen. I've seen plenty of manufacturers make that mistake. Making psychic predictions as to release
dates and then not being able to deliver just further annoys customers. Presonus has more sense than that.

Well, for me it's much more disappointing not to hear ANYTHING from the Presonus folks re: update for the 1818's software. IMO, their silence means that nothing significant is in progress, and no update is planned for the foreseeable future. Which is OK; the current software works, even if the UI is a bit crude. I just think it's a bad PR move on Presonus' part NOT to let us know what's going on (even if the answer is 'nothing atm'); and a bad business decision not to give an update a higher priority. (Once again, just some relatively simple UI enhancements, without any change in functionality would make for a much better product..This is not rocket science).

What exactly are the issues?

I would like to know since I'm in the process of replacing my dead FIREPOD and the two units topping my list are;

1. AudioBox 1818VSL
2. Focusrite Scarlett 18i20.

Thanks!

My main beefs with the AB1818vsl software are UI-related (functionality is fine):

1) You can't name the channels; this is just silly/stupid

2). Adjustments to the send levels are a little hard to fine-tune; there's no way to just type in a specific level. Also you cannot tell exactly what the send level is until you put a mouse on it and move it a little.

3). The software window is constricted (i.e. can't go full-screen); therefore, you can't see all your channels at once if you've got something plugged into the ADAT input. Also can't see all the effects on a single FAT channel at once - e.g. you can see gate/compression/filter but then have to slide over to see EQ..

BTW the MixControl software that comes with the Scarlett series takes a little getting used to also. In addition, the 18i20 doesn't have built in effects for use with zero-latency monitoring. This for me is a deal-breaker; I otherwise really like the Focusrite unit. (Actually prefer it's looks, build quality, and software interface). But if you want to do live sound and monitoring (with effects) and recording at the same time, then there's no USB device available like the AB1818vsl, that I'm aware of anyway.

The 1818 was a great idea in writing... that never lived up to its hype, in my case anyway.

Drivers do not offer full compatibility, my 1818 shuts down randomly during its use, so not possible to bring it to a live show unless I want to look like a fool.

Tried all the tricks, tried support. no go.

So, if this thread shows that people are interested in the 1818, maybe Presonus will take some of that precious time off whatever they think is important, and spend some time towards the users of the 1818, I'm all up for it!

This is my "vote" for a new, improved, updated, "better", more consistent (no drop-outs or random static moments), or whatever you wish to label it - Win7, Win8, and Mac driver update. (I'm Win7 Pro - SP1) Before NAMM . . . maybe? That'll make playing with my new Multi-Channel FaderPort ( Hint - Hint ) all the more fun !

Whether in the studio recording OR using it for a live sound source, just a good decent dependable driver.

Because, we AB1818VSL owners actually like our 1818's. It's time to take the next step, and fall in love.

I'd be happy with an official communication from the Presonus crew that they're actually working on this with maybe a rough idea of a release date.
