This is a group of small thing FR's that might get more input if grouped together.
Some of these gaps have been filled by macros but it seems to me they should be built in to the application proper.
Some or most have been requested individually in the past.
In no particular order

The Idea behind this FR is small bits of coding needed here or there to slip in to a maintenance release before 3.0.

1) Sort Recent Files on start page by name or by date
2) Update recent track list upon a save not a complete shutdown. ( some action don’t hit dirty bit)
3) Send "off" to all MIDI in a panic ( (modify key + click stop button)
4) Save or load a macro bar ( currently have a home grown utility to do this)
5) Quickly set the looping start and stop from an event size.( currently have a macro for this)
6) "Fit project in window" zoom that works (currently have a macro to do this)
7) Select all tracks and or channels (have a macro that mostly does this)
8) Add track should remember a default ore last used preset
9) Turn on or off all plugins off from the Performance monitor
10) Add plugins to black list so we can weed out plugin that are found in scan but only work in other hosts or are bundle but you have not purchased yet. ( but in long run a plug in manager)

Others small things?

few other small FRs:

11) track number (why aren't they numbered?)
12) dim solo
13) pan bypass (possibly also global)
14) global FX bypass
15) global Inserts bypass
16) remove fades/crossfades
17) delete overlaps for audio clips

unfortunately none of my list can be properly handled by macros...

Add a few of my Macro Command wish list
Add macro capability to Project page

Add
Global Record (state) to un arm all tracks
Select all channels
Select all tracks
Explicit channels size (1-4) to set a certain console look

Modify
Show channel: add (state) to be able to close 1 or more channels
Add audio track (Dialogue window) to have complete control over adding a certain type track (roll you own template)

Remove
Close
Close all (causes macro crash)

Nice idea.

Here's my list of those small (eency weency, yet important) improvement FR's. I tried to keep them small, within reason as I see it (less GUI mod's for instance).
In order of importance (as I later noticed by accident).

1. Ability to move Loop start (left locator), past Loop end (right locator) to produce a skip forward of the song marker.
2. True "Undo", "Redo" functionality. Of course this includes mixer or any last altered change (control + Z), & (control, shift + Z) respectively.
3. A more complete list of keyboard shortcuts. Many macros cannot be performed due to lack of needed key commands (which are typically faster anyway).
4. Ability to select "channel matches track order".
5. Simply edit a pitch name in the editor, instead of having to resort to the "Edit Pitch Names" wrench, which brings up the Edit Pitch Names Window, which defaults to the 8th Octave range.... Are you serious? How about double click on the actual pitch names in the editor window itself. The Edit Pitch Names is good for calling up whole drum maps. It should not be the only way to edit a pitch name. Result: Poor workflow.
6. Easier way to remove a non desired audio recorded take (actually, "file") permanently from the drive. Sort of a macro that not only selects event in pool (already available), but then removes file permanently, all in one "stroke of the brush". Currently, too lengthy at this time to delete a bad audio take. Yes, we know about removing them in the pool at one time later on, but some of us like to remove tracks/takes when they're fresh in mind. Too many fail-safe windows to click through to simply remove a bad take.
7. Easier way to call up multiple events in the note edit window. i.e. select several events first, right click "edit". Then all selected events are viewed in editor. Currently process is when one event is edited, then locate the rest. Usable, but there should be this alternate and largely easier method.
8. Locate last peak. Right click over any peak indicator for last peak incident, or view peak list.
9. Save mixer scenes (if this could be deemed simple).
10. Shift (move) Master Main Out channel anywhere on mixer console. Great for separating buss channels to right.
11. Control "solo to background" (level).
12. Yes, MIDI reset. A key command, and screen location. Screen location in a place always accessible.

Here is another small request since you have all the data at the moment it is detected.
Why not tell us where?

Big to

3) Send "off" to all MIDI in a panic
9) Turn on or off all plugins off from the Performance monitor -----> This is good, but I also want the on/off button for each plugin (or make the current icons buttons to turn on/off)
10) but in long run a plug in manager
12) dim solo
14) global FX bypass

- a key modifier to temporary pass from the arrow tool to the split tool

when I do split editing I miss this feature all the time

Hope v3 accommodates all of the useful points you guys have posted in this thread. This is excellent subject matter that really looks more into administrative and tidy housekeeping that the program would benefit from.

Lot's of good input from everyone.

Without noting all of these "small things" such diddies can get missed!

Even very simple additions can become quite powerful advances.

Here's one, I'd guess could be easily doable IMO.
Currently, when you right click over a marker, the first option is "Stop at marker" with a checkbox. After that, there is only "cut, copy, & delete". Pretty sparse selections, really for such a useful item as a marker.
It would be so nice to also have in that tiny little menu, a "Go to Marker # _" where you can select freely another markers number.
This would open the door to having the song pointer skip to another marker in a very lean fashion.
If developers then went the extra mile and added below that line "No.of loops _", we then have the luxury of having the song pointer move throughout regions so we can try and explore musical passages without yet having to move, cut, copy or past, until that need is desired. Effectively proving out the regions musically first. Example: At marker 3 "Go to Marker 5", when the pointer moving simply along reaches marker 7, Go to marker 6, and loop twice.....etc, etc.. All by virtue of 2 lines at each marker. "Go to", and "No. of loops".

Now, I don't wish to elevate this to a level of Ableton LIVE, as the idea here is a simple addition to provide useful control over song structure while keeping a linear based theme intact.

Think of how useful this is even for the live performance user, who wants to alter their song list. It could even be used in Project mode to try the song sequence without the tedious moving of songs to what you think might work!

I just think this is an elegant approach to something very powerful with little change to the existing layout.

I mean if the marker has a check box to "Stop", can't it also have a "Go to" and Number of loops"?
Hope I've conveyed the thought correctly.

My small requests have been...

- A button to close the current song.
- Channel Banks and Track List Presets have "Rename" and "Overwrite" options.
- MIDI events no longer show the ghost line in the Arrange view when all controller data have been removed from them.
- The names and colors of shared events are also shared (linked).
- Shared events can be copied and pasted as shared events, without losing the link between them.
- Volume faders of Instrument tracks in the Console view can be grouped.
- The Input fields of multiple tracks can be toggled all at once.
- The "Draw events translucent (grid shines through)" option when enabled doesn't change the event colors (currently they turn too dark)
- The Velocity and Pitch fields in the Editor respond to incoming velocity/pitch data from MIDI keyboards.
- The default F2, Shift+F2 and Ctrl+F2 shortcut keys toggle the Console view, and F3, Shift+F3 and Ctrl+F3 toggle the Editor view.
