Scenario:

A few instrument tracks, and a few audio tracks. My problem is with polyphonic audio parts, I haven't checked if the issue is the same monophonic.

1. Edit a polyphonic audio part with Melodyne, either with the editor attached via the pane at the bottom, or free floating or max screen... Delete a note from the audio, or move a note in rhythmic or pitch terms.

2. Choose an instrument part to edit, so the editor switches to the instrument part. Do not edit any notes.

3. Now return to edit the same audio part you were a moment ago, where you deleted/moved the note. Try to undo the deleted note, undo is greyed out.

Hence, if deleting/moving notes in the melodyne editor, you cannot move away from that editing page unless you're sure you don't want those notes permanently deleted/moved. Is this normal behaviour?

I've just realised that you don't even have to switch editing to another part of another track even to have this happen, just change the size of the editing page by maximize or minimizing or snapping/reattaching....

Could anyone be kind enough to see if they could replicate this next time they've S1 running? Shouldn't take more than a few minutes at the most - actually, not even a minute...

Just tried it and I can't seem to duplicate it here. Are you using 2.5.1?

Hi Johnny, thanks for trying it.

Yes, it's 2.5.1.... x64 , Melodyne 2.1 via ARA.

Can I just check that I explained it correctly? You edit/delete a note in an audio part via Melodyne (ARA), then close/navigate away from the window... You don't even have to do anything else, just return to that same editing window, and the option to undo that last edit is greyed out.

FWIW, my Melodyne folder resides on a different drive than C, not that this should make a difference...?

I've tried this now also in melodic mode, and also in version 2.0.7... still the same problem.

Could anyone else as well as Johnny possible check for me, just to ensure it's my system that has an issue? Literally, delete a note in Melodyne, close the editing page, re-open the same editing page and tell me whether you can undo that last edit?

Thanks in advance.

I can verify that. I get the behavior on Studio One 2.5.1 x64 on Windows 8.

It happens when I close the Melodyne edit window then return to it. The Undo option in the Melodyne edit window is greyed out.

Thank you for also checking Dominic.

Is this a bug, so to speak, or actually as it should work? If the latter, I'd be most surprised in terms of successful workflow.

Looks like it is as it should work. Although I agree it's a strange one.

As far as I can remember, it has always worked that way.

It is a strange one indeed. Does no one see it as counter intuitive, counter productive even? The only work around I... nah, forgot that, there isn't one. As soon as you try to edit another part, the window closes and that's it - all undos unavailable.

Having not needed to use the ARA extensively until now, it seems that it will stop me using it in the manner it should work.

Having just tried the plug in Melodyne... the good news is that this works as expected. Looks like ARA is a no go for me from now on. Pity.

I do hope that this can be looked at.

Johnny, Matthew, thanks for your input.

Make a FeatureRequest or submit a ticket than. It definitely sounds not like its the so most logic behaviour after reading that one

If you think about it, S1 operates the same way. Once you close a song, that song's undo history goes away. In a sense, when you close the ARA edit window, you are closing Melodyne. I think all ARA is doing is opening the standalone version within S1, so I'm not sure if its possible to retain that information.

Tarsonis, I will make a feature request. I won't make the ticket as DominicB is part of the team, so I'll assume he'll pass this on.

Matt, yes, I see that Studio One's undo is vanquished after you close the song... But I'm not closing the Melodyne ARA editor, I'm just going to another track to do something else within the same song. As I say, just seems illogical as far as 'integration' is concerned. Well, at least in my eyes.
