EV 767a Feedback Issues

I need some help. Did a live band yesterday, 3 of the band members were using EV 767a mics. Starting with a flat EQ setting on all 3, I was experiencing feedback like never before. All 3 mics responded to the feedback in exactly the same way. I had a nasty time with them... very frustrating to say the least. After the gig, I did some research on the freq characteristics of the mics, and see they have a slow rise of plus 15db from 500 to 5000, with another bump somewhere around 10 or 12k.

I will be mixing them again next week and wondered what could I have done to control the feedback issues?

With the 24.4.2 you have EXCELLENT tools for this purpose! I used SMAART on the mains and the monitors and it was a breeze and the sound was very good with no real feedback issues to speak of. The spectrum display will also show you hotspots in your mix's...

Note here also that this is a super cardioid pattern mic and that monitor position for best feedback rejection is the "10 and 2" O Clock positions, and nOT at the base of the mic stand @ 12 O clock...

I also have an app for my Iphone/Ipad FFT that shows the feedback nicely for trimming processes... There are some free ones that work fine and then you don't have to guess...

Hey, your welcome.. I don't think with all the goodness that exists with V1.7 and the Ipad...that I will ever go out without ALL the tools!
