Does the 32.4.2AI support use of a digital snake? Hopefully this is not a dumb question, I have been involved in live sound for only
about a year now. My church is looking at the AH GLD mixer and I want to go the Presonus route. Help me sell the 32.4.2AI.
Oh this might be my first post here.
Thanks
Richard
Yes, the 32Ai is going to have a digital snake and stagebox option using Dante network scheme. It isn't known yet exactly when that will be implemented, and won't ship right away with the Ai when it drops.
One thing you might use as ammo is the ease of operation.. and in a typical volunteer situation the Allen Heath, while an awesome product, would be far more difficult for any volunteer to learn.. so much so that it will likely drive them off in frustration.
For me, or another seasoned professional, the feature set and difficulty of navigating endless menu's, and having to set up routing for most every function won't deter us from using such a console..but will likely be very alienating to any uninitiated, or even analog types.

Best connectivity Express card/firewire 2 port (400) that does NOT suggest having the TI chipset. (always worked great)
BYTECC Express card (400/800)07150358281
Asus/AMD processor tower. This setups just works on all firewire devices.
Belkin N450 dual band router, works with SL and Ai mixers
Studiolive 16:4:2
SL Ai24.4.2
ABUSB 1818VSL
Faderport
USB pre interface
Studio one Pro V2
LABsubs
loads of audio, and studio gear, and audiophile sound gear (gearslut)
Gadget, thanks for the reply. Since I am one of the sound guys I prefer the work flow on the presonus boards as we have a Yamaha LS-9 32 currently and you have to drill down into the menus for certain things. My aging eyes dont like that as it would be nice to have the most used features right on the board like the SL has. It may be posted else where but when are the new 32.4.2 boards due to ship?
Well, were all hoping sooner than later, but no one knows...sorry...

A&H requires skilled people to run it.
Not for average weekend warriors.
It´s like battlestar Galactica, built like one and acts as one
good is to have digital matrix quite freely to be modifyed and bad is have it quite freely to be modified (=troubles with multiple ways on multiuser enviroment)
It ´s great console but takes some serious time to be tamed.

I asked my rep, because I want to start submitting them on bids, and he said that he heard July.

Nahhhhh. Well, which one are you talking about? The GLD? Psh. It is a piece of cake. I think it is easier than the X32.

just think about some wannabe sound techs testing every trick on the book trying to figure it out - phones steaming for googling info - evereywhere else than from A&H webpage
neverever will test x32 - rather haul & use my own analog console - life is too short
Any news on the development of the digital snake? Business is expanding and I need to get another console. I want to stay with this line, but the digital snake option of the Behringer X32 is very enticing.
