Have you checked the frequency response of your microphones?

I set up a monitor speaker and used the tone generator in S1. I don't have a reference mic (yet) to check for a flat source so to say the test was scientific would be a stretch. I also looked and listened to voice response. It was interesting to see the side by side comparisons.

OK, I picked up a reference mic. To check my monitors do I use pink or white noise? I think I figured it out. White noise I have a very flat signal from my monitors. With pink noise the signal matches the slope in the spectrum meter. If I'm correct my old Alesis monitors are doing a pretty dang good job.
Even if I didn't need to change a thing I've learned alot .

Played with eq to get as flat as I could with the reference mic through the monitors and saved it as a preset. I compared the preset to some eq settings in the master of some recent songs. Not exact but similar in many ways.
