My church is in the midst of a major remodel. I have convinced our pastor we need a new board because ours is losing channels left and right. It looks like we will be going with the StudioLive 16.4.2 but i need to know one thing. It has to have a computer connected to it to be able to run remote access off an iPad. It will be running off my computer which is also the same computer we use for pro presenter. They would both need to be running simultaneously. Anyone have any experience with this and know if they can both be run at the same time from the same computer? We also will be running a love video/audio feed to another room that is our overflow. Any suggestions of a good program to use to be able to mix the audio from the board with the video from the camera as well as slides from the computer and have it all playing in the other room?

its best to run studiolive on its own computer, if you accidentally close your program, then you loose connection with the iPad. get a cheap laptop with firewire so you can see the settings and save your shows.

We use Mac mini to run VSL and pro presenter but if we need to record or do some heavy video scenes on pro presenter I use my MacBook Pro for the VSL and studio one. We will be purchasing another Mac in near future to dedicate to propresenter

We're not far ahead of you, having converted to StudioLive 16.4.2x2 about six months ago and and currently transitioning to ProPresenter.

ISSUE 1: SINGLE COMPUTER FOR SOUND AND PROPRESENTER

Sure, I thought about "one computer does all"... for a few minutes.

And then I asked myself, "How important is it for the sound system to be bulletproof in the service?" The obvious answer was, "Very".

As a result, I sprung $300 for a used Mac Mini ( Intel Core 2 Duo 2.0Ghz ) from EBay to handle the sound duties, and a separate MBPro for the ProPresenter duties.

ISSUE 2: LIVE VIDEO CAPTURE / REBROADCAST

This is a longer topic, and probably not one that really relates to Presonus. If you want to hear what we're doing and what I'm currently planning on our system (plus an update in a couple of months as to how well it works), feel free to send me a PM via the boards and we can set up a phone call, email, or whatever works best.

Your short answer is that ProPresenter 5 may be able to do what you want, with a few extensions.

Universal control is relatively lightweight in it's demands on the computer system. I've used 1 computer for UC, ProPresenter, and Capture all at the same time, with absolutely no issues. I've also used the same setup, but running ProTools instead of capture for several weeks, again with zero issues. You also get the audio path to and from the computer over firewire, so less cables to run and make a rat's nest from! I'd suggest that a newer model iMac may fit your needs very well, just bump up the RAM if it's 2Gig or less. ProPresenter definitely is more reliable on a Mac than a Windows box.

We've had no problems with a somewhat newer MacBook running all of those apps at the same time.

I doubt you will have any problems running both apps at the same time. now, if you plan on recording (capturing) your services and presenting it's a different story. The Universal Control software actually uses very little processing power.

you also have to think of internet access. if your computer is capable of hosting a small network (this is what it technically does with the iPad) through the ethernet port and also connect to the internet thru wireless access, then you are OK. if you do not have a wireless card, then you can either access the internet, or set up the iPad control but not both.

In my opinion, it's simpler and easier to have 2 designated computers for those 2 tasks

I know this response is quite late for your project, but have you thought about getting aTriCaster? Check out this url: http://www.newtek.com/products/tricaster-40.html

With all due respect, if they cant afford 2 pcs, they cant afford a tricaster. Its an amazing piece of hardware/software but the price tag is way out of many smaller churches ranges. If the budget is there, then please buy a tricaster
