I have a laptop and a backup laptop. The main machine gets cloned over to the backup machine whenever changes are made. So... the license. Since I will only be using one of these at a time, can I:
1 download a 2nd license for the backup machine (naturally S1 reads the logic board and HD serial numbers)
2 save the license file somewhere
3 re-clone the backup machine again and again
4 simply put the license file (the 2nd one) back and everything will work and be compliant

Yes, that would work, and it's even more simple:

The license file that you download contains keys for all computers that you have activated before.
So after you have activated the backup machine, put the license file on the main machine.

Then no further steps should be required when cloning.

Here's what I have discovered having 2 machines with S1.

1. You need to use 2 of the 5 licenses allowed
2. If you re-image a machine with the same hard drive it will all be ok
3. If you use that image in the same machine but with a new hard drive, you will need to use another of the 5 licenses.

I re-image all the time for testing and such so this what I have had to do. Hope it's useful.
