Hi,

I have a MacBookPro, and I am using Studio One 2.5. I was recording my voice and all of a sudden it stopped! Here is the message I received:

Studio One: Dropouts occurred during record. The drive used for recording might not be fast enough. Please consult the operating manual for advice performance.

What do you advise me to do?

Thanks.

Bouna.

Hello Bouna,

I had this same exact error occur recently... In my case it was a hard drive going bad. I would suggest (since you are using a mac) getting a copy of Disk Warrior and running its full drive test.

If after testing the drive, it test ok then i would suggest looking at connections. What sort of interface are you using to record with?

I'm having the same message come up; I was having trouble with a different thing happening that was similar with an older version, and now I get this message/error coming up instead now that I've downloaded the 2.5 version. Before there was skipping in the playback, with this the message pops up and it just stops recording immediately. Scanned my hard drive, no errors have come up.

So is there a solution for this error??? I was recording a session last night and kept getting this error... couldn't finish the session.... I upgraded the SL24 to newest driver version and the errors diminished but I still got like 2 more..... what's going on??? is it the hard drive or a driver related issue withing S1 ???

I Have S1 v 2.5 top version, this is the first time I record with v2.5 and didn't have problems before 2.5.... some ideas presonus???

Hi,

What type of MacBook pro do you have? Do you have SSD disc, or "normal"? Do you have 5400 rpm, or 7200? DId you try to use external HDD for recording?

Try to Repair Disk Permission of your system driver from the Disk Utilities.

I'm beginning to think this might be a problem in the Mac OS. There are a lot of Logic users having this problem as well. I've had this same problem myself pop up in Logic and Studio One. Is this happening to Windows users as well?

I'm on Mac, and I haven't had this problemy ever.

This could be roblem of slow 5400 HDDs, which are very often in Apple's laptops. But again, I have one, and no problem, here.

Try to optimize your system.

This problem just happens occasionally, and it's happened with external Firewire and USB Drives. As far as optimizing OSX, any help would be appreciated. I had thought it might just be that my iMac is getting a little old, but I've heard of the same problems from people with much more powerful machines as mine.

Just google Logic disk too slow, and you'll find plenty of folks in the same situation.

I'm using these steps.

And I switch Off Screensaver
- switch off the "Put the hard disks to sleep when possible"
- Set Computer Sleep to Never
- Switch Off the Check fo updates
- Switch Off Magnification of Dock
- If you want to setup your system very well, switch off whole Spotlight.

Thanks Martin, I had done most of these already, but was surprised to see that the "put hard disks to sleep when possible" was still checked. Now it's unchecked, we'll see if it makes a difference.

For me, this problem showed up after upgrading to 2.5. I've been using S1 for over two years on the same computer and have never had a drop out. Now with 2.5, i can't keep even a single track recording.

Update: I reinstalled 2.0.4 and the dropouts went away. Have been tracking 32 tracks for over an hour and no sign of hiccups. In fact, I've been browsing, sending email, etc. and it's all working better than a single track with v2.5.

Guys it's not a faulty drive, it's a known issue with 2.5 on Mountain Lion.

(And this issue does not happen in Logic Pro on the same system I assure you. I'm tracking in Logic right now, no problem whilst S1 2.5 is unusable)
