Wow, you party with some interesting people to say the least!

I had a chance to finally get DMXIS and my 2 FAB 5's up and running this week, I'll tell ya, compared to what I've been using or even really seen, it is just amazing to me. It did take me a while to figure everything out, but I'm feeling comfortable with it now. I just downloaded your Fab 5 fixture library along with a couple others so I'll try that out tonight, should make it even easier to control the lights! I'm hoping that one of the Fixture files I downloaded is for 12-channel as that is the way I've been using them, it's gonna be great to have everything labeled and working as it should. I have 4 gigs this weekend, 3 of which I'll be doing sound, so the system will get a workout for sure! Having upgraded to Windows 8, added DMXIS, added Driveware for the 260 (which means new crossover), and reinstalling all software, I'm a little freaked because of course the first gig I have to do with this completely revamped system is for Famous People. My nerves are literally shaking now and it's still 2 days away But, I've been working very hard to get all the bugs out, for instance, everytime I booted the computer my studiolive (and computer) would freeze on monday night, switching from firewire 0 to 1 then back 0 would unlock it, a reinstall of Universal Control has seemed to fix that problem (so far). Then one of my Fab5's didn't seem to put out any red when hooked to DMXIS, but when I tested it it worked fine, took me hours to figure out that I had set the red to like 5 on the actual fixture and that when I turned it back to 255 all was good again. This is all stuff that I definitely didn't want to learn on friday night though and I took off work on Friday so I could arrive at the Ballroom at noon to get to work, I really want this thing (and entire weekend) to go flawlessly! But I know I'm taxing the computer pretty good, Splashtop uses a lot, as much as I'd like to I'm not even going to think about recording anything.

I am seeing the light at the end of the tunnel though, once I have a complete understanding of all the software I'm using and all the possible settings and what they do, my iPad will be one very powerful remote control! Awesome!

Thanks for the Help!

Steve

Definitely an interesting time

I had that issue with a 3NX. It's like the red was sooooooo low. Then I remembered someone mentioning the setting on the fixture overrides DMX. Sure enough, it was really low as well. They really need to add that to the troubleshooting.

Add the fixture to the library. Not sure where on a PC. Someone else might have made a Fab5 one as well, on the fixture editor on the DMXIS site.

Good luck!!

Ya, I downloaded all 3 Fab 5 fixtures that were available, I think the one you made says 5-channel so I'm hoping that one of the others is 12 channel. I'm pretty sure I just have to put the file into one of the folders under the DMXIS program folder (in Program Files x86) and it should appear on the form (for Windows). I'm psyched up! I plan to blow some minds this summer for sure!

Next up is a fog machine and some kind of movers, and a bubble machine for sure, I do a lot of daytime outdoor gigs as well in the summer and I can just see the little kids going crazy over the bubbles, of course I could see the adults digging the bubbles too at 2:00am when the psychodelic band is really hummin' ha ha

I think I tried to make a 7 channel.

Dimmer
Strobe
Red
Green
Blue
Amber
White

But no go. So if you see that one and wonder why it doesn't work, that's why.

The first one I loaded up last night (12 channel) works great, even with all the presets I already made, Sweet!

The nice thing is now when you double click red, it selects them for both fixtures. I really like DMXIS!

Well, I made it through the weekend without any issues, 3 day long gigs, I had the computer and studiolive up for like 8 hours each day without a reboot and all programs worked flawlessly, however I did not use Splashtop, nor did I use Capture. Here's a pic of me iPad'ing Robert Mason's monitor mix, sorry no pics of the lights, someone just emailed me this pic or I wouldn't have any lol, too darned busy!

Thanks!! My goal last year was to upgrade my light rig to a DMX setup. I started oct 6 with a set of 4 intimidator 1.0's. now my vision is realized, so I'm pretty happy at reaching that goal.

Just over $17,600 for everything light related.

Crazy!!
