Mauro
I have my laptop setting in the exact situation where the 44VSL will not output. I hooked it up and played some music. Hour later came back and played some more. Then I unplugged the usb mouse and plugged it back in. No there is now output. Odd thing is if I pull up the VSL software it shows on the mains that it is outputting but there is no analog output out of the 44 VSL. It seems to be a hardware issue maybe..
Thanks

I might have it working. It will have to prove it'self. I moved it to a usb connection on the other side of the laptop surmising that it might be a power issue. On some computers USBs on one side do not have as much power as on the other. So far it has not acted up. I will keep you posted.
Thanks

After installed two months ago an AudioBox 44VSL v1.1 driver the playback is still running. The wifi must be shut down and to prevent clicks anp pops I installed "process hacker" software after I read on link http://forumsarchive.presonus.com/posts/list/24987.page .
Now I`m testing a new AudioBox 44VSL v1.2.1 Public Beta - PC...
Well I used it at church and it had no problems! Woo hoo.. I think switching to the port on the other side fixed it. I am thinking that there was more power at that port.
Thanks

I have had this problem without fail with the newest driver. In fact, I have never gotten it to work with the updated driver (Windows 8 Pro 64bit/Reaper 64bit). I have had flawless performance with the "legacy" driver, 1.1, but it just bugs me that the newest and supposedly stable driver renders my DAW useless.
I'm frequently having the same problem, and I'm working on a Macbook Pro, so obvoiusly Windows is not the problem. Input audio (audio direct from a mic/instrument/line input to phones, with Mixer knob turned all the way to input) works fine, except for some annoying hizzing; but audio from the Mac through the AudioBox VSL (Mixer knob turned all the way to VSL) is dead. There is plenty of peaking on the VU meters on the VSL, both inputs and outputs, but nothing out of the box.
It seems, though, that moving the USB cable to another port on the laptop activates the audio output on the AudioBox (for a while), and moving the cable back again to the first plug keeps the audio working ('till next time the issue occurs).
IMO, with the amount of "I'm having the same problem"-posts on this thread I think it would be courteous of the PreSonus folks to send out a firmware/software update to fix this obvious bug in their hardware/software. Had I known what I know now about the 44VSL's problems I probably would have chosen a different product in the store.

Same here: 44VSL regularly stops giving output in the middle of a session without me changing anything. Meters in the VSL are still pumping, but no sound coming from the outputs. Only solution is restarting the interface.
Very annoying!
IMHO this must be some driver problem? Please address this issue, as it does indeed seem to happen to quite some people...
I keep running into this problem. My workflow of the last couple of days has been terrible due to continuous restarting the soundcard and my DAW to fix this issue. Changing USB ports doesn't make a difference. The solution is always temporary and I'm fed up. Seriously thinking about switching to another soundcard...
