love S1

love S1

love S1

i also dont want to beat a dead horse and i have asked for and gotten responses on eucon support. for me, i still mainly use cubase, because, for me, i love hardware controllers and work better that way

i have S1 sitting there on the same machine and sometimes i noodle in it and do some songwriting. its a dream DAW

but until its eucon supported i wont switch, or until they roll out way better support for these artist series controllers somehow

and thats just me, i purchased those when cubase was my main DAW. when S1 came out i was excited because i saw an artist controller somewhere on one of the presonus pictures where the devs were?

anyway, this is just me, i like how i work and feel these are an industry standard protocol. however if they decide never to support it then i respect that as being their decision, and then i have a decision to make

and to me, its really that simple

love s1

Chime in Batman.

Note to self. Stay the heck out of these CS discussion threads.

CubaseUser's avatar is damned funny.

If I do, I'm gonna hate myself in the morning........... I really do not want to lose any more friends over this. But it's easier to respond to just a few comments here.

I'd say PreSonus might be listening more to their customers, then their customers listen to them.

Here's where I lose another friend: Sorry Motoko, I disagree totally. In my opinion, if you enter a market that you seriously want to compete in, to the fullest extent, there are going to be some things "YOU HAVE TO DO" in order to compete fully. Reaper has nearly full controller support and is open ended enough for users to create "FULL" support over anything that is not. Cubase kicks ass in controller support and also has it's own type of "BOMES" style linking where Transports and jog wheels can be setup within an existing template.

I'm aware of the need of a lot of users to have native support for their controllers (most of them will work at the moment by the way using Control Link).

This is really not the case at all. Not even close. For basic (very basic) keyboard controller Control Link is wonderful. It's just an east 2 step process to setup a quick knob or a non-flying fader. BUT that's where it stops.

One Presonus poster made a comment that made me throw my mouse across the room by suggesting people are spoiled by having everything handed to us and that we should learn to set some of these up ourselves. Sorry dude. 90% of your user base are average (or below) computer users. That's an egotistical and selfish point of view.

Should Presonus just drop what their doing and fix the controller issues?

HELL YES! .....but better than that, it should have been the very first thing, out of the box, that should have been included.

Before Control Link
Before video support
Before a track list
Before Exchange
Before Melodyne

I consider myself a pretty tech savvy guy. Not the sharpest knife in the drawer but pretty savvy. I have read all the control link data available for programming and setup and it is NOT easy to understand some of the deeper options.

But more to the point, NO!!! We should not even have to do this. We should not even have to open up the stupid XML files at all. I don't expect templates for every stupid little controller keyboard out there. If you control link had the ability to map Transports, that would take care of all the Axiom 49s in the world.

I'm talking DAW controllers!!! The few they have only partially work.

Mackie Universal Control (the gray unit partially supported and the newer white units, not at all)
HUI support (the closest to full support but buttons still can not be programmed fully)

In my opinion, there really is no excuse as to why Cubase and Reaper support more controllers than S1. It is the SINGLE most reason many of my clients opt for Cubase or Reaper.

If controller support is holding you back, then don't use it (yet).

I would have thought Presonus would be smarter than that. I view the lack of controller support like selling a car without the steering wheel. Yeah it will get you where you wanna go, but you have to get outa the damn car to push it around a corner

Making their own controller, without adding full controller support, would be adding insult to injury, for a great many people here. For myself, I would love to see a Presonus controller because I'm all about Manufacturer compatibility and stability (just look at my signature...lol).

Even Steinberg created a controller that only worked with Cubase\Nuendo and while it wasn't popular, those that wanted it had the choice to go a 3rd party route if they wanted to.

So the most unpopular thing I have to say here will be that I feel Presonus owes us the controller support we should have had 2 years ago.

So there ya go guys. I can guarantee I won't be at the next Presonusphere now. But in all seriousness, Exchange should have been after controller support.

Hey Johnny, you're not losing a friend. In fact we just differ in opinion and that's that. Nothing to it. I'm all for controller support, the sooner the better and I'm even trying to get some movement there through various other channels. Although I'm not sure it will actually help.

Anyway, it's just that for me it's not such a high priority in general and I'm more impartial to it then you, for example. But that's no biggy. We're allowed to voice opinions, that's the beauty of freedom of speach.

So don't sweat it. In order to lose me as a friend, you might try stalking me on the forum here, and try to correct about every post I make... Then you'd be looking at some serious cold shoulder

I´m 101 % with themuzic. The PreSonus controller situation is a shame. Finish.

That's actually a suburban man hug. Urban man hugs leave lots more room in the mid section.
