The overall workflow of S1 is its strength, no doubt about it. That said, there are some issues that are very annoying and stand out because most of the workflow is superb. Pardon me if I'm repeating myself or anyone else with these:

- When you zoom in on the arrange view, it should center around the current time marker. I use the mouse method (left click and hold while mouse is over time marker) and I usually first click to position the time marker on the area I want to zoom in on. However, S1 doesn't seem to take this into account, and most of the time my song marker is off screen, causing me to re-position the horizontal view.

- Punching in should use RECORD, not play. Not only is that more intuitive and consistent with other sequencers, but there's a good reason for it! With S1, you have to turn on punch, hit play, perform, stop, turn OFF punch, play (to review), then turn ON punch again to record another take. What a PITA!

- Mute and ARM buttons are too simliar. You can't see at a glance which are which. Distinguish them somehow using size and/or color.

- When you hit the ZERO key to go back to a marker, the view often presents the current time marker at the very left of the screen. This makes it very difficult to ascertain that you are, in fact, at the desired position. It would be more 'natural' to scroll the screen a little bit more, allowing the user to see some of the time 'before' the position.

- When dragging an effect (in mix view) from one channel to another, allow the mouse to scroll the screen horizontally (like you can do in arrange window). This would allow me to drag from one channel on screen to another off screen (by causing auto-scroll).

- Speaking of dragging an effect from one channel to another, since we're effectively making a copy of the effect, it might be better to not pop up the plugin (chances are the fact that I'm copying it means I like the settings). This would make it much faster to copy effects to multiple destinations. If I want to review the settings I can double click on the effect name.

- In the arrange window, if my mouse is over the track name area, but not over something like the volume, please allow me to scroll the tracks up and down.

That's it for now. More to come. Keep up the great work!

Don't know how often I tried to scroll up and down the tracks while I was over the track name area...

This works for me -- just tried it to be sure! (Pressing the space bar while dragging speeds up the scrolling)

Let me add two more suggestions to the list:

- It should be possible to rename an event by double clicking on its name (nowadays you have to right click and select Rename Events)

- Changes of the Instrument Input/Output/Channel and things like that should be undoable.

Valuable input and very well observed.
My system: Mac Pro 2012v with the latest OS-X and the latest Studio One DAW and the latest plugins. It's always up2date, to every component. I use Internet studio management software (PluginUpdate, Mac OS X App Store, Update Checkers, KVR, etc.). It's the bleeding latest with every bug fix available applied.

I like this idea. A preference to stop the GUI from being exposed in those cases would be cool. Good one.

Some more:

- You should be able to double click on any track event and move the song position to that point. Having to click in the tiny vertical timleine space at top of screen seems unnecessarily limited (especially when you're trying to match it up to an audio event that is 6 tracks below it) and double-clicking on a track event doesn't seem to have any other purpose.

- You should be able to right click on the marker track and insert a marker.

- It would be nice to have an option that allows us to name a marker upon inserting one.

Hold CTL and click to locate anywhere, by clicking anywhere. Or, if you have the range tool just click anywhere to locate without a modifier.

You can also set a preference to "locate when clicked in empty space" (Advanced | Editing), to locate with a single click and no modifier. There is a minor issue with that locate method though if you have audio everywhere it's more difficult to find empty space to locate with but the space between vertical tracks actually can be clicked on to locate, the target is just very small. I'd like to see that target made bigger.

But you can locate by clicking anywhere in the grey space, even the tiny grey space between tracks. If you have difficulty finding space, use the CTL modifier.

Thanks for the CTRL modifier tip. I could have used that yesterday.

I'm not sure the range cursor does what you suggest as I had tried that yesterday, but I'll double check. It seems to create another vertical line that looks like a song position, but is separate.

It sets the position of the play cursor position on click the same way it does with the CTL modifier.

Well, actually the range cursor does NOT set the cursor position on click and neither does CTRL .... UNLESS you have the option to 'locate when clicked in empty space' ON.

This option defaults to OFF.

This is obviously a BUG as there's no reason that they should be related. But now that I have the option ON I can easily relocate the song position (yay!).

It sets the position of the play cursor position on click the same way it does with the CTL modifier.

You have to enable the "Follow Edit Position" for this!!

"- Changes of the Instrument Input/Output/Channel and things like that should be undoable." indeed. i would rather scroll up and down the tracks by mouse button then accidentally change the input section and record the wrong input. Or at least make the input section on the tracks lockable.

other then that. ROCK ON! BEST DAW EVER IMO, just a few minor improvements, you have my money!
