I want to import an audio file (a bass track) from Ableton Live with the tempo-information 78 BPM into Studio One.

In S1 I want the file to play in 80 BPM.

I drag the file into the S1 and I open the inspector for the track in question and set the Tempo to "timestretch" and set the File Tempo to 78.

The file doesn´t follow the song-tempo 80 BPM, though. It plays a bit too slow.

What should I do?

Thanks for any help.

My setup: Studio One 2.03, PC, win7 64 bit on a Intel® Core i7 2.8 GHz. RME Babyface soundcard. (Would like to update to 2.06, but I can´t because of too many issues with that version, http://forumsarchive.presonus.com/posts/list/26194.page)

You are part way there.
click and select the imported file, look at the bottom of the inspector and there is a box where you can type in the tempo info. Put it in there and it should now stretch

And you did that in the inspector and not in the transport panel?

Another approach:

1. Create a track to import the file.
2. Turn timestreching to Don't follow in the inspector for that track
3. Drag in the file to import it
4. Adjust the Song tempo and the alignment of the event until you make sure the bars line to the time line exactly
5. Bounce the event with Cmd B (Mac) or Ctrl B (PC). This will set the file tempo.
6. Set the track timestretching back to sound, drums , or solo as makes sense

Now adjust the tempo to 80 or whatever you want and it should track.

I actually did this last night and as soon as i entered the tempo in the inspector for that track BAM you could see the waveform change to fit the tempo of the Project.

Thanks for the input, guys, appreciate it.

I was in a hurry and had to quickly move on and fixed the problem with a lot of manually work with the bend tool instead.

I´ll keep your tips in mind for the future though.

Again, thanks.

I hate to bump this BUT...

I read in a Tech Support forum that ALT+ COMMAND worked as well as the metronome button in the browser helped...however on a PC I can't seem to locate the metronome icon and the key commands are Mac. Where's the metronome icon and what is the translation on these two items for PC?

Thanks!

I'll give you a hint. It's a little button in the transport that looks like this.

I suppose it takes a Texas wise-ass to spot a Texas wise ass, however for those of us who are too stupid to see the vague resemblance, it actually looks like a blue arrow...but I figured that one out when it dawned on me that the blue arrow would make the file (supposedly) play in time with the project tempo. Which it does not nor does it make any difference when dragging a loop into the arrange window. And any sort of nerd factor business regarding .wav into a track and keep time with the project is complete BS as far as workflow is concerned. All that aside:

Now if you guys could turn the brain trust towards the ALT + COMMAND translation for people with more than one mouse button....

Well, if you hit the C key on your keyboard, this will turn the Metronome on or off, depending on it's current state.

I got the whole metronome thing down...that was user head gap, not a program issue.

BUT, and here's my big but(t), all the nonsense about setting the tempo in inspector and setting Timestretch in both the song and the inspector is, politely, rubbish. If the file has "loop" meta data in it, it MIGHT sync up, but if it is, say, an audio clip with one shot or no loop meta data, it has to be massaged to work with the project tempo. Even lowly and OLD Acid 7 can figure out how to make a short clip loop to tempo with zero nerd factor. As can Sonar. Both of which I would gladly sh*tcan if, see question below.

Where is that functionality in Studio One?

This is what you need to do in order to have audio clips playback in tempo. The Metronome won't do anything but play ticks back on Tempo.

-Set the event Tempo in the Inspector.
-Set the track Tempo setting to Timestretch.
