I would like to uninstall Studio One. The problem is that Studio One or anything related to Presonus and/or Studio One does not exist in the list of programs that can be uninstalled. I tried running the uninstall program that came with Studio One and I get a message that the version of Studio One I have is not compatible with my operating system ( I am running Win7 ). I just purchased and installed Studio One a few weeks ago.
I have exchanged numerous emails with Presonus Tech Support concerning this problem and as it stands right now no one knows what the problem is or how to fix it. I get the impression they would prefer to ignore this problem and concentrate on simplier issues.
Any help would be greastly appreciated.
Thanks...

It is strange that you cannot simply uninstall the application. If need be I guess you could manually delete the related folders but it would probably require some form of registry key deletion to really complete the uninstall properly manually.

I guess (if you have not already) you could ask PreSonus tech support which folders and any reg keys you need to delete (safely) to manually complete an uninstall of Studio One.

Strange. I hope you get it sorted.

If I may ask why do you want to uninstall S1?

This may sound like an odd idea but it often works: Do a total install/reinstall and then retry an uninstall. Sounds like you may have deleted an 'uninstall data' file that contains references what needs to be uninstalled.

Thanks for your suggestions. The reason I want to uninstall S1 is twofold.

Since the day I installed the program there has been a problem with defining a range ( to copy/paste etc. ) S1 does not recognize certain touchpad and/or mouse functions. After five or six email exchanges I was told by Prersonus Tech Support that the problem was with my mouse. I took my computer to a reputable computer repair service and, (at my expense - $80 an hour x's 2 1/2 hrs labor ) I had them run a complete diagnostic of my operating system, all my hardware, mouse drivers , mouse and touchpad etc. Everything worked fine and all drivers were up to date. Still had the same problem !

1. I want to uninstall and reinstall S1 in the hopes that the problem will be corrected.
2. In the event reinstalling S1 does not correct the problem I do not want any of S1 and it's " buggieness " on my computer. I am concidering purchasing" Cakewalk" and do not want to run the risk of something in the S1 programming to possibly corrupt any of the "Cakewalk" program. I would prefer to have S1 operational...I believe it is a better program than "Cakewalk." But that dosen't look like that is going to happen.

So far Tech Support has no idea why the uninstall program that came with Studio One is not working. I believe the problem lies in the S1 installation process.( S1 is responsible for installing their own software ). Possibly the wrong version of S1 was installed and/or was not installed properly so that the Windows registery was not updated. Hence it's unavailability for uninstalling in the normal Windows uninstall process.

In either case S1 has to be uninstalled....completely

If Tech support cannot solve this problem I am going to begin the long and bothersome process of getting a refund from Presonus. This will take many months I'm sure. I expect to get jerked around alot and even ignored. My companie's lawyer is confident that I will get a refund and has given me a few avenues to explore to speed up the process. It's not the money, it's the principle.

Hope this answers your question. Thanks again..........

You can try to ...

1. Manually delete all of the install directories for Studio One.... (vista directories below, Win 7 should be similar if not identical)...

C:\Program Files\Presonus\Studio One
C:\Users\Username\AppData\Presonus (appdata is usually hidden so you may have to unhide it)
C:\Users\Username\Documents\Studio One

2. Delete the content directory if you installed it somewhere else.
3. Go to add/remove programs and uninstall the Gear driver. Search for "Gear" in add/remove programs.

That should do it. The only other thing S1 puts in the registry (afaik, officials will correct if wrong) are file associations for itself. If you want to manually delete those associations (which also will remove them from the registry) I can walk you through that process.

Can't happen... not possible. Studio One doesn't even (afaik) rely very much on the system reg, let alone do anything that would interfere with running another daw. I can feel your frustration but the above is not going to happen. Delete the directories I listed above and move on with Sonar. You'll be fine either way.

I have a better idea as to why you want to remove S1 now... I wish there was some way to avoid the need to uninstall but our needs and experiences are all different.

I have Studio one and Sonar on my system here. No problems with corrupt files e.t.c from either installation. You really should be fine there.

I don't think you have to worry about the uninstalling to reinstall S1, usually when you install the same program or any file the computer detects that it already exists and asks if you would like to replace it. Go ahead and continue the install and after its complete go straight to the updates. It baffles me that it wont work in W7, some guys on the forum are running this OS. Just to have W7 on your system you need to meet minimum requirements if you have it installed on an older computer. Hope you get this problem solved.

GreggG, did you try to install S1 again, and then uninstall as a few others have suggested?

Also, did you perhaps install the x64 and x86 versions (they would go into Program Files and Program Files (x86) respectively)? Have you tried running the uninstall directly from each install location? Did you maybe delete the Studio One installation folders (either one) at any point?

There can be no doubt our installers work fine, and the product itself is in no way inherently defective in a way that would cause the issues you are seeing. Your specific case (original issue of the mouse not working correctly, and also the uninstall issue) is completely unique among the thousands of S1 users out there AFAIK. Something obviously went wrong, and sorting through such a specific issue like this is anything but simple.

AudioCave's instructions should completely remove Studio One from your system. If you want to dig through the registry to remove file associations, that is possible as well.

Hey, since when there's an uninstaller for Studio One? I haven't got one in Win XP, but uninstalling via control panel works just fine of course - even without lawyers ...

It looks like you got a bad impression of S1 because of a very rare "bug" (if you can call it that). try what these guys have told you and get a fresh install of S1 running, then see you have an problems. your issue in itself sounds very strange and is more likely a system issue than S1 (something could have gone wrong in the installation) and is the cause of your problems. is S1 just isnt your thing, then by all means go ahead, but just dont dismiss it because of a rare incident, its worth the second chance

As far as I know, there is no Uninstaller for Studio One, other than un-installing it from the control panel. And I agree

"don't dismiss it because of a rare incident, its worth the second chance"

Best advice to follow!!
