Can anyone tell me how to get rid of the slight delay I'm getting when monitoring a mic input through the FS Mobile unit into the S1 program? What combination of Universal Control settings and Audio I/O settings works best for this interface? It has no "hardware monitoring" button, so what is the next best thing? I've tried to by-pass the UC mix w/ just the phones, and used the mains in the program with not much improvement. Any ideas
Thanks,
Kurt Wagner
P.S. By the way, being new at this, how do I get just the playback to monitor by itself without having to turn down the mic input manually? Like I said, I'm new at this...

If you are using the FS Mobile you have the opportunity to use 'zero-latency monitoring' or 'direct monitoring', which lets you route the incoming signal directly to the headphone output without taking a round trip through S1.
In the Song setup you can assign different mixes to the outputs of the FS Mobile. Make sure one of those mixes is assigned to the head phone output.
On the sub mix panel of the tracks you are recording on, there should be a 'Z' shaped icon. This will allow you to enable zero-latency monitoring.

There was much in the beginning but I can tell you that the Mobile and the zero latency option simply ROCK! in S1 now. Follow his directions and you should be good.
OK, I've assigned a sub-out to the phones, but I don't see the "Z" button for zero-latency on the sub mix panel... This should be seen when the "Mix" window is up, right? I've never seen a "Z" button... Help!

I'm not sure, I can't test right now, but I think you should set the option for Cue mix in the routing options (or disable it if it's on).

werent we told that if you have S1 there is no need to install the Universal Control drivers, as S1 already has them built in (or something to that effect)?

I'm sorry, I wasn't clear. I installed the driver and after that de-installed the UC stuff I think. Or I might have just removed it from the startup options.

Motoko wrote:Well, just installed S1 without UC and my FSM is working without any problems.
I find that every now and then my FSM stops working as it was set to work. i.e. headphone output stops, or stereo is lost and only get mono. All I do is fire up UC just once and shut it down and that straightens out the FSM or FSP for that matter.
This is the only really irritating thing about S1 and Presonus interfaces that I experience. Well, and when I do any tracking with FSP or FSM it can be a nerve wracking experience to get the monitor audio in my headphones to work right without having to juggle UC and S1 around until everything works like stereo or faders. That is scary.
Can anyone else confirm that they are running their FSM without UC? I'm very curious about this because I still have audio freezes and dropouts, and maybe UC is conflicting with the drivers in S1? And you don't need both installed?
