My advice and suggestions should never be considered advice or suggestions. These are mostly insane ramblings of a poor aircraft mechanic who can, strangely enough, still hear.

The firestudio is once again listed as a current product, not a legacy one. This is misleading, especially since many stOres still sell the firestudio.
Seems like a bad business practice?
It is a shame presonus wilL no longer support this product. If there was a new version of the FS then I would understand, but until they have a replacement it should be Supported.
I like to keep current with my OS, so,I hope presonus has a newer FS planned. Nothing else cOmpares to it Especially from the price point.

Anyone have the Firestudio 2626 working with Windows 8.1 64-bit?
If so, what driver package and what Firewire card/chipset are you using?
I'm in the midst of setting up a new 24GB HP Envy desktop with Win8.1 Update version, and it would be useful if I can resurrect and deploy the Firestudio for some mixdowns and light tracking. I still need to acquire a PCI-e Firewire card (mulling over that piece).
This particular system has a 23" Dell touch screen and a 27" monitor - part of an experiment in using touch screen as mixing interface.
Yes. I'm running the FireStudio 26X26 on Windows 8.1 Pro 64 bit.
It has been running well and not having any problems.
Just install the Windows 7, 64 bit driver and it should work. Use the ASIO drivers.
I have two firewire cards plugged into the PCI-e buss.
One is the Texas instruments and the other is the Via chipset. Both work. No special driver for those.
I had read about some people having an issue with the new (?) win 8 Firewire driver but they were able to
reinstall the old driver. This has not been an issue for me. It just works and I didn't need to do anything special.
I am using the Texas Instruments chipset simply because it is the most recommended compatible chipset.
Hope that helps. Post back here if you have any problems.
Thanks!!! That is really encouraging to hear. I'm going to order a PCI-e Firewire card with a TI chipset this weekend and give the setup a go sometime next week, will report back in. What brand / model TI-based card are you using?
From what I understand from online readings, it seems that Windows 8.1 plays better with Firewire cards (as compared to Win8 which some people needed to revert to the "legacy" Windows driver) - this is similar to what you mention.
What DAW are you using? I'm looking to use Sonar X3 (which I have, ready to install, too).
