Well, this actually doesn't matter because Presonus didn't ALLOW them to sell it early. GC jumped the gun AGAINST THEIR AGREEMENT WITH PRESONUS. What can Presonus do about it? Well, probably not much if they want to keep GC as a retailer. But Presonus didn't allow anything.

I disagree! You can't tell me someone high up in Presonus can't make one phone call to the higher ups at GC and have the sales stopped within 24 hours. Sorry, but I think Presonus has handled this whole V2 fiasco badly from the get go!
Of course they can, but they can't stop the stores from putting it out early before Presonus is aware of it. Even if they made the call, some people still bought before it was possible.

Again, Presonus can't stop a store from putting it out early, and their only recourse is to penalize the store with either a lawsuit or by stopping from further business with the store. But they would be foolish to do either with arguably one of their largest retailers, no?

Wow, you have an excuse for everything! Why is it you assume the request to GC will be received unfavorably? Hopefully there are professionals within that organization that have integrity, and would be more then willing to comply with the request. The question must be asked, was it even attempted by Presonus?

less than 48 hours to official announcement - can't wait to see it all (assuming they'll re-release the videos plus a few more)

synthphonix, thanks for that post. Sorry, we're kind of beating a dead horse here! BTW, it's more then 48 hours away.

Don't worry dude. You're fine! I think there's a morality overflow going on here. I think it's just the excitement overflowing a bit too.

Indeed. I wonder what is wrong with all those 'sudden' morality knights.

Just let things be, for all you know it could even be part of marketing...

What's out there is out there, what's not is not. Don't try to act like some half-baked moderator or Presonus-Rep.

What you actually can conclude from those postings is one difference of German culture. You see, there's Ari from Germany (I guess he is because his Website in his signature has a german domain) who tries to save the formality, seriousness and rules in here even if it is far too late for that. And some other cultures (which I can not identify exactly but it really doesn't matter) which are either not taking all this as serious or which are trying to communicate between those misunderstandings. This is a very high qualifying scientific statement (or actually not).

No offense!

What i'm interested in finding out on the 18th is will Presonus announce if they have added any new control surface support to S1?
At the moment the list isn't extensive and for me i'm really hoping that I see full blown dedicated templates for the Tascam FW1082 and FW1884. At present the Mackie control and HUI protocol don't work well and i'm left with lots of redundant buttons.
There are a lot of control surfaces out there both new and old which as of yet, don't have full support e.g M Audio Project Mix I/O, SSL Nucleus, Focusrite Control 2802, Alesis Master Control, Euphonix MC Mix, I realise some of these items have been developed after S1 was released back in 2009, here's hoping over time that we see as many control surfaces configured to work. Looking forward to Tuesday for the announcements

Wow. Folks here need to chill just a bit.

If Presonus doesn't want info out there, they should control it a bit more tightly. Posting YouTube videos by accident, having screenshots available for download, the stuff with GC.... Putting disclaimers out there may work for us who are willing to abide by the rules but the rest of the world? It's like there is a lot of info swirling about and we're just supposed to shut our eyes, stick our fingers in our ears and go "la la la la" until the18th or whenever? (hell, I'm pissed because I've missed each reveal.)

There was a nice guy who worked over at sweetwater last year who just mentioned on the Motunation forum that folks should "keep their eyes open for big news from avid next week" and sweetwater canned his butt (folks believe it was at the insistence of avid). Now THAT'S aggressively keeping a secret. Totally turned me off to avid though and didn't do a lot for my feelings toward sweetwater at the time. I'm glad that is NOT Presonus. They've been totally reasonable about this discussion, more so than the morality knights.

I also find it a little disturbing that folks taking a public stance against sharing this info are PMing trying to get screenshots and other stuff. What's up with that???

Now let me get down from my steed and put away my chain mail myself...

Things I desperately hope are in v2:

An improved GUI look
Folder tracks
Support for MAudio HyperControl

Nice to haves:

Reconfigurable, dock able GUI components (ala reaper 4)...I know it's not there most likely but gosh that would be nice
Support for VST 3
Inline editors

One thing I'm not clear on: are they DEFINITELY announcing it next week or not? Timing doesn't make sense given the $99 promotion. If they announce V2 next week and there's a rush of upgrades to Pro before the 31st, won't all those people expect a free upgrade to V2 as part of a grace period and aren't they killing revenue? Seems they would hold the announcement until Nov 1.

I'll go nuts if I have to wait that long for some info...

At http://www.presonus.com/community/presonuslive/ you'll see special announcements scheduled for the 18th all over the place. I dare say it's fair to believe that'll be about S1v2 ...

Since v1 is currently selling for half price, I doubt there will be a "free upgrade" grace period.

I took a closer look at the screen shot...some interesting things a foot it seems. GUI looks largely the same, but at least the blue-ish tint is toned down a bit (grasping for something here).

two more days! two more days! two more days....!

EDIT: On second thought, it looks pretty much the same color wise. refinements, but nothing radical.

don't get me wrong. I basically like the interface. it's usable. it's pretty efficient. just wish it could be tweaked a bit color palette wise.
