Hello guys,
I've been working on this one the last days, finally finished it. I still have some problems with the my vocal, especially on the chorus. But consider this as work in progress. I will make a better version with better vocal.
Wrote, recorded and mixed by myself, and i'm very unexperienced, so i would be very happy to hear some of your opinions. I'm actually not a guitar player at all, just look at my avatar. That happens when a keyboardist try to rock a strat . But i tried hard on this one. I used mostly lepou's stuffs on the amps, combined with ampire as IR loader.
Its in german btw, but i hope you guys still enjoy it.

Btw, i've noticed, there are two sets of this forum. This is very weird. It's like a parallel world. While this side is actually the less visited one.
I thought i made a mistake, as my thread didn't show up, so i posted it unintentionally in both sides.

Here's the other side:

Hmm.. very weird.

Like mipooh suggested, i just made bass guitar and drum bass a bit louder, the guitar was too dominant. Let me know if it sounds okay or not. Link stays the same.

Yes i mixed it with my Dt770pro headphones, although i have a pair of studio speakers, because i do it all in the living room of our apartement. One day as i recorded one of the chorus and screamed so loud, my neighbor under me knocked their ceiling so hard with a broom, i could hear it through the microphone. I also used a cheapo tbone microphone. I hope to be able to upgrade it someday though.

Apart from the guitar, it was all VSTis. So when you said the drums are a bit sloppy in the beginning, it might be my sucky programming. I also noticed some timing problems with the bass, as i don't always quantize everything. I'll take a look further.
Regarding the muffled sound, yes, i tend to mix in 'too much' from everything, so it often sounds muffled at the end. The guitar might take too much room in the spectrum. I thought the sound matches the style though, I don't know, i will just tweak it more.
Thanks for your inputs. May i ask if you liked the music, apart from the sound?

It is not the music style I prefer, but it was not a pain to listen...
I like sweet leadguitars, much melody, 2-3 voices or something like ACDC and the old rock music from my time as a young man... (now I am 58...), so let´s say the Who, the Clapton trios, and of course Jimi, CSNY when they rocked... more elder I am more hard can be the rock, limit ist metal... but still it needs much melody and guitar for me.
But music style to listen and making music, these are two completely different things to me.
So I looked at your song more from the perspective of a musician and I could make something like this song too. (I would not listen much of that style, but anyways I don´t listen much to music.)

Yeah, i hear you on that one. Do you know why i often come out with indie when it comes to guitar-heavy song? Because it doesn't require that much skill to play. I wish i could play better guitar or every other instrument to make some 'real rock' for example. Heck, i wish i just have more musicians around me who wants to collaborate. Sitting alone in front of the pc is actually not the best way to make music anyway.

Cheers,

A little bit Daniel Wirtz style, cool one.

I think you are overdoing the snare. I like trashy sounds but this one is too overcompressed in my opinion. So it cracks down the rest of the drumkit. Especially the cymbals are too low and the rhythm and groove giving elements like hats and ride can't do much for the groove.
With less compression and more present cymbals you will get a more open sound over the whole song which will bring back a lot of dynamic between the different parts.

Perhaps you can give the vocals a little bit more clarity in the area of understanding the lyrics.

I also use the DT770 Pro, they are good sounding headphones but I always have the problem to get the right amount of center and side signals with them. So I use them for detailed editing or frequency filtering and mostly mix with my speakers and than check with the headphones.

Thanks alot for the inputs risotto,
I will try to implement them. Yes, i wanted that trashy sound to the snare, but overcompressing is definitely right. I'll try to mix more with the speakers too. Can't do it in the later hours though, where i normally have time for it.

And i'll check Daniel Wirtz later, never heard of him.

Daniel Wirtz was the singer of a band called Sub7even... a one-hit-wonder project as far as I know.

For trashy sounds I mostly prefer parallel processing to dial in the right amount of trash that I want, or to easily dial it back if I overdo it (which happens most of the time when I try it *g*)

Guys, since the last post i didn't touched it for a week, then i just mixed it again today, and replace the wav in soundcloud, so link stays the same. I hope the drum track sounds better now, i also EQ'd the master bus also a bit, to make it sounds bit brighter.
Let me know what you think now. The vox still needs some more work, but i'll do it later, step by step.

Thanks for your time.

Thanks alot for the hint, man! I used a synth bass in the first verse, and let the bass guitar kick in at the first refrain, but it's not that effective obviously.
I fixed that.
I start wondering, if i need another headphone to mix. My dt 770 pro has so much bass that i tend to turn it down.
Is it better now, or did you notice anything else?
