Or maybe not. I'm working on the review of the 44VSL that I threatened to write and want to be sure that I haven't missed a couple of things in the VSL screensd that occurred to me would be good if they were there.

Naming channels - It would be nice if I could change "In 1" to "Guitar." I've clicked on everything in every way I know how and I don't seem to find a way to change it.

In the detailed Fat Channel display, show which channel is selected. I'd like to verify that I'm about to make adjustments to the correct channel while I'm looking at where the "knobs" are, without having to look away to see which SELECT button is highlighted.

If they aren't there, they'll be on my wish list. If they are and I'm a dummy, I'll put in my compliments for good thinking.

Before you make any harsh reviews, make sure you've gotten help on the forums like you are doing now. I find a lot of reviews on any product weigh too heavy on a persons frustration on not being able to figure things out at first.... I'll try to look at the VSL for my 22 later today and post if I can find something helpful.

No, there is no naming option at all. Would be cool though. Not sure about the channel select though. I don't think that's there either.

At the top of the VSL screen you can see the input selected. it's still a little above on your site but it is there, directly to the right of the words "Fat Channel"

That's exactly why I asked here.

Thanks for checking your system. I wonder if the screen is different (other than a different number of channels) between your 22 and my 44. Here's what I see.

Do you see what I'm looking for here? I don't see anything identifying the channel near the words "Fat Channel." Could it be something about the resolution of my monitor? The VSL screen almost completely fills the screen with the browser pane retracted. Or maybe Windows XP, which is what I'm running it on? I suppose I could try it on a computer with a monitor set up for higher resolution. Nope, no difference there.

I'm on Mac so that may be it... But I would assume they'd be pretty close... You have the latest update of the VSL software?

On Page 24 of the AB1818VSL Owners Manual, it states;

• Fader: Each input channel features a fader for accurate level adjustment. Unity gain (0 dB) is denoted by a “U.”

I don't see the "U" they refer to. Is this s typo or am I going blind...?

(and my screen looks identical to jpettit's above post)

It could be because what I have is a 44VSL, and the 1818 has more inputs, more outputs, and more setup stuff. However, the "In 3" that's on the 1818 mixer is what I was looking for, so somebody there thought it was a good idea. The Fat Channel layout is different between the two models. On the 44, you select the processors you want to adjust and you see the EQ, compressor, and gate by itself. I'll post the question over on the 44VSL forum and see if anyone there sees what I'm looking for.

The only place I can find a version number is on the Setup screen. That's 1.47.0.4364, firmware version 1.04 It's what's currently on the PreSonus download web page. Is that the latest? It's what I downloaded and installed in November when I got the interface. I don't believe there's been a later release.

And I don't see a "U" either.

Yep that's the latest. There is rumor that an update is pending.
