I am a keyboard player/singer and am using a VSL22 as vocal processor and keyboard mixer. My main DAW for live use is MainStage - a component of Logic. Are there any other performers trying this? I use the VSL with a wired in-ear headphone. We connect the VSL22 to an SL 16. Anyway, gain staging is an issue as well as only 1/4" out. Any other performers trying this method? Ideas, thoughts, input?

Hi tonbar45

I use the AB 22VSL on live gigs using Studio One and/or Ableton Live as a host for my plugins. With the AB 22 I usually send front of house the left and right outs from the Ab 22 and monitor with either the headphone outs or take an aux feed from FOH. I see that you mentioned gain staging as an issue. Can you elaborate?

We have just had some issues mixing the vocals and all of the keyboard patches through 2 channels out. This is a work in progress for us. I love having my own effects on the voc channel in my in-ears. A dedicated vocal out is perhaps the best thing for FOH engineers. Gain staging with so many effects, software instruments is a challenge too...but getting better.

Sorry to rehash a year old thread, but I'm looking to do the same, use it for live gigs for my vocals and also to trigger samples, and I have the same questions..

So with regards to gain staging, do you mean it's tricky finding the right volume balance between the vocals and the keyboards? I was thinking about that too, did you consider making both mono, sending the vocals out to the left and the keyboard sounds to the right? Or did you want each to be stereo (vocal reverbs/stereo synths etc)?

Also, how did you connect the VSL to the FOH desk?

Thanks in advance!
