Id be amazed if we didnt see 2.1 [ or 2.04 ] at NAMM - as in I reckon its a 100 percent likelhood - IT WILL HAPPEN - thats my prediction.

Regarding the Control Surface - id LOVE to see it too ........ although I think its a 50 - 50 bet.

Remeber too that as important as NAMM is, companys like Presonus release stuff all through the year when they think the best time is. There would in fact be a very strong argument NOT to release a Controller at NAMM so that it is not " LOST " OR " STARVED "of oxygenat an event where every man and their dog is looking to make a best-in-show headline.

An update? Possibly but a controller? Not a chance.

I wouldn't be surprised at all to see an upcoming family of USB 3 interfaces. I would love to see a USB 3 2626 I/0 interface with on board midi controllable VSL type DSP. Make one of those and I'll sell all my other gear.

I also wouldn't be surprised to see an iPad interface. Seems like lots of audio companies are eager to make an offering in this market.

I'm guessing more USB (2.0). Maybe a SL 16.0.2 USB??

Focusrite 18i20. An '1818' that actually works as advertised and has great support!! But Presonus will continue the story it was all my systems and there is no hardware issue with the 1818 and the drivers are great.

Almost two years on and Presonus continues to say it's a 'top priority' but have no driver updates, make excuses and blame others (Intel, USB3 Microsoft, Apple and now the company that writes their drivers!) when other companies have it all working on the same systems!! And it so refreshing to get regular software updates and responsive and effective support!

And the 1818 does not have 'on-board DSP' as continues to be claimed.

Whilst I'd like to think we'll see some USB 3 devices considering how slow audio interface manufacturers are I very much doubt they'll have anything available

I HIGHLY doubt you will see USB 3 Audio interface for at least another 12 - 18 months - why ?

-> USB 3 Support will not be operating systerm native until Windows 8
-> Intel will not be integrating USB3 into their core chipsets for another 12 - 18 months

In addition, with Windows 7, the operating system limit on how small a USB audio " chunk " or " section " can be is 1.0ms or 48 samples - this is an O/S limitation. This is why on high end USB units, the minimum latency is no lower than 48 samples - Winsows 7 simply cannot properly process USB Audio in " chunks " or " sections " less than 1.0ms / 48 samples.

So, unless Windows 8 has removed this " limit " USB 3 will deliver nothing in terms of lower USB Audio latency - USB 3 would allow [ potentially ] higher throughput / track counts, but that isnt an issue with USB 2 for %99 of users.

Putting all the above together, I dont think we will see high-end USB 3 units until late-2013 / early 2014.

Interesting stuff benifin, I didn't know that. I appreciate the info.

I'd actually be surprised if Microsoft honestly cares if it can process below 48 samples when USB 3.0 is implemented into the OS as we (
DAW users) are not their main target so I'd expect the status-quo in Windows 8.

As for what Presonus will bring out at Namm, I HOPE it is a larger Faderport solution (meaning more faders and the ability to use it with FXs), but I'm not sure that is likely.

They may just use Namm to show off S1v2 to more people in the industry or as other eluded they may have something with the iPad that they might present to.

Keeping my fingers-crossed on the controller though...

Ahh..I see. Thanks for explain this. I had no idea. All this time I was anticipating USB 3 interfaces hitting the market any time now. Well, at least I'll get my money's worth out of my recent AB1818 VSL purchase.

I guess for us guys with firewire devices Thunderbolt will be the area to watch and whether we'll see better performance with that

I also am very interested to see what happens with the Thunderbolt has I have it on my MacBook Pro. Seems like it's aweful expensive for the cables and devices at this point along with very little info out there at this time (that I can find anyways). I hope that the latency issues we have and deal with will be gone completelty some time in the near future (i am not holding my breath for this).

I doubt we'll see an upgraded Faderport. It's a good solution as is, and the whole point is that all most people really need is one good fader. If they make it a 4,8,12,16 fader solution... the price would likely increase dramatically, which might not be smart in a down market.

From a business standpoint, they'll probably keep it as is. If anything, i'd like to see them fix the Bank button. That would solve all possible problems on my end lol.

Also... I hear their StudioLive mixers dont exactly control S1? Is this correct? If so... i'd guess we'd see some software enhancements in that area. Please correct me if i'm mistaken, but It's kind of silly to think a big Presonus mixer isn't a dedicated Presonus DAW controller.
