Against cracked studio one

Hello;

When presonus release a new patch or upgrade, I can see a cracked version of studio one the day after release date included all those content package.

As a registered user ; I don`t feel that i am using an exclusive program when I see cracked s1 on internet. I am against cracked softwares specially for studio one but at the same time I don`t like dongled software either.

Is presonus going to something about it? Create a "non-crackable" software?

I really hate that all those wannabes can use our content and software that we purchased and join to the presonus forum for asking technical help...

Presonus deserves every penny with studio one. IMO.

Software gets cracked, that's life. Take some satisfaction in knowing that YOU did the right thing and purchased it honestly and don't worry about the thieves.

Supply and demand laws.

I understand that software gets cracked but you know "the feeling" is not okay...

I know what you mean. I suggest staying off of the warez sites. That way you won't have to be reminded as often that others are taking what we paid for.

In some cases you can brag how cracked software works better than the paid thing in some cases.

One thing I've found really interesting is that the legitimate userbase feels so passionately about this, to the point of policing it as best they can themselves.
On the DP forum, usually the first answer to a question was "see page x in the manual". The manual was print-only at the time, so it helped weed out the illegal users pretty quickly. Better than a dongle (DP was simple serial), and you could make notes in it, and take it to the loo with you too! Without that manual, you probably weren't going to get very far. There is something to be said for things not being quite so intuitive.
It is discouraging, but yes, it's a fact of life, i'm afraid. We're a strange breed, with a very peculiar tendency to make good solid rules, and then do our best to make "justifiable" exceptions to them. Moral ambiguity seems to be an innate talent, so people can justify just about anything.
On a more humorous note...I'd heard that there was a cracked version of reaper floating about...i mean, seriously...WHY?

Everything gets cracked, software, hardware... Just accept that it's out there and let it go. If you want to get wound up on it, you'll be mad all day everyday. Investing is more complex copy protection is more more invested as well, meaning less money and time available for actual development of the product itself. And it will still be cracked in the end.

The easiest thing to do is just forget about it and move on

A thief will always find a way. Nothing is uncrackable, the same way no ship is unsinkable. What goes up will eventually come down. At least S1 has certain features like Soundcloud that can't work in the cracked copies by nature. If that makes you feel any better.

It's just another angle and fuels the neverending discussion. I've also argued in the past that copied software might actually be the best marketing tool out there. There's a hundreds sides to this story. Which is nice for an evening of discussion and some strong drinks. On an average day though, it's not a situation that is easily resolved one way or another. There's no stopping cracked software, there's no way the big industry giants are able to adopt the business models to accomodate current customer demands to the fullest. It's a slow process to change anything on a global scale.

So what happens if 5 years from now PreSonus decides to abandon the StudioOne project? How are we going to activate the product online? I'm thinking I should download one of these cracks just as insurance in case anything like that happens.

I'm pretty sure that if that were to happen they'd release a unprotected version. That's the type of people I think PreSonus are. Anyway if they do abandon, I'm not going to keep working in unsupported software. I'll move to the next best thing.

I truly hope they start pursuing legal action against these culprits!

Which culprits? It would be easier if you'd actually know who they are. Anyway, the only way to keep your customers happy and willing to invest is to have a good product that meets demands.

Don't for a second think that people that download software would actually buy the software if there were no downloads. Well some would, but most wouldn't.
