Being that S1v2 is out and making noise, just curious on what's the chances Presonus is gonna drop a new controller on us?

I'm thinking they've had enough time by now fingers crossed!

I'm sure they are working on something. I am not sure if they will drop it at NAMM 2012. They did ask previously for input from forum members so I'm thinking that they are gathering ideas and possibly working on something. We'll see, but like all of the other PreSonus gear and software I've experienced, they don't send out half baked product. So, it might be worth the wait.

Regards, Bobby

As someone who'll be in the market for a combined audio interface and control surface I believe now isn't the time to buy. Lets wait for the roll out of Thunderbolt devices

Since you didn't provide a link, I have no idea what these are. And a google search only turns up Apple Hard drives.

Thunderbolt is reportedly set to release in 2012, but the question remains, will it beat out USB3? PC's won't have thunderbolt until intel releases ivy bridge, Acer and Asus are slated to ship Windows PCs equipped with Thunderbolt ports in the first half of 2012 but everything is cloudy right now. Most Mac users tooting the horn about thunderbolt as the greatest thing since sliced bread and that is only natural since it's the format Apple chose to adopt. I suspect this whole thing will just be another USB/Firewire thing, but only time will tell.

Which is very funny as there's hardly any hardware supporting Thunderbolt at the moment... Not sure what the Mac users are tooting about then... LOL

If is not similar to Firewire, I'll pass. Speed is not always everything when it comes to audio interfaces.

It's the next 'version' of FW, it's a multi purpose protocol. Macs are losing FW in favor of TB. In Q1 2012 they'll start to appear on PC as well.

Still not seeing anything that proves or states that. They only brag and say how fast it is on the articles and documents.

All new MacBook Airs have only a Thunderbolt connection. Future Mac versions will get TB connections as well. The first products are available. Intel is shipping the Indybridge as of 2012 with TB connection.

It's not just a concept, it's here. The question is how this will pan out.

I know about it. However, the information that matter the most is missing. Is kinda like the old Pentium 4 thing(when Intel thought that processor speed is what mattered), they only praise how fast the thing is. They mention some daisy chaining, but that doesn't mean is the same thing as firewire. SCSI could daisy chain things and there were no audio interfaces for it.

Macbook Pro's are also coming equipped with Thunderbolt, as well as some displays. Our lead software designer is using 2 thunderbolt displays with his Macbook Pro for a Dual monitor setup (with the MB Pro sitting in an aluminum cradle). As far as I can tell, its the wave of the future! (he certainly believes in it).

that said, we do have to wait for the technology to "pan out" a bit before designing devices around it. PC's will need to be onboard with the technology for it to truly be viable.
