I am new to S1 Pro 2. I have a M-Audio Oxygen 25. I am thinking of upgrading. 49 keys? Any insights or opinions? Thanks!

If you use the keys to play piano and/or softsynths you should go to a store and try playing different keyboards as the keys from the different manufactures feel very different to play

I had that here for a week or so and quickly moved to the AKAI MPK 49....the difference is astounding. The AKAI...is truly a pro level controller...and works straight away with S1.

I second the Akai it is a much better built keyboard, but as stated you need to try them as the Akai has a firmer playing action (which I prefer).
AMD Quad 2.4 Ghz, 8Gig Ram, Win7 64, Focusrite Scarlettt 8i6, Studio 1 Pro
,Akai MPK61, MPC Studio, Omnisphere, Steven Slate Drums etc.....

The MPK88 is getting quite negative reviews, on the other hand, as well as M-Audio's Oxygen 88, which is a whole 100 dollars more expensive than the Akai one and has less controls.

yes, and a lot of the complaints seem to have to do with the hammer action of the 88 key model. the 25, 49, and 61 key versions don't have that...they just have the typical semi-weighted keys.
had the 61 had hammer action, i certainly wouldn't have gone for it (i'm not a piano player, and that sort of action feels way too heavy to me).
