Hi folks,

A while ago I got lyrics and melodies from two friends who wrote a Christmas musical for children (and some adult support) to be performed in church.

My job was to arrange, produce and provide the playbacks - a rather quick and rough one for rehearsals, potentially a slightly refined one for the show, and maybe even record the soloists and choir together with a later, CD-ready version of the songs.

Now, this set shows the rehearsal, or preproduction, versions. The goal here was obviously to create something fairly simple, yet varied in style (matching the different topics and "tones" of the song lyrics). Therefore the arrangements are rather sparing, all featuring prominent melody carrying instruments to support the learning.

Hope you like it!

Thanks! Yeah, it was interesting to see how (un)easily different people could catch beginning as well as note. It really seems to be harder when the melody is played (versus sung), so we're already in the process to record a vocal guide track - 11 songs (12 if I can find a German rapper ) including editing, remixing and remastering all within one week ...

I´d see no problem running helping vocals into monitors. Works with older performers as well.

At some point they won´t need it/even notice it´s missing.
Biggest problem is to make them familiar with hearing themselves from PA.

I kind miss those years...

So we had the show a few hours ago.

Audience obviously had fun, kids gave their best (and most of them actually did a pretty good job), I got my fair share of compliments as well, FOH was ... well, let's just say I should've done it myself.

Very nice all in all.

Hey Bo, seems like a slightly unfair comparison. However, thank you so much!!
