Ok, so where we stand is:

-there is a way around this
-it is something that should be looked into by presonus

Is that fair?

You would probably have to describe the problem accurately

Is the problem altering files ... or deleting files?

And is the workaround different depending upon which hardware or virtual gear you use?

Regarding the possible deletion of files, I'm curious if S1 deletes any of the op's files at his normal work space compared to files that were created when he's recorded live gigs -- possibly with a completely different setup. If files the op creates at his normal work place never get deleted -- and he didn't tell us that any were -- that tells you something.

There's every possibility that Presonus simply can't account for every possible combination available in the MIDIsphere that an op can use with S1 and every so often strange behavior can occur. It is ludicrous to believe that Ableton or any other DAW doesn't have it's own occasional MIDI hiccups when users on five continents start throwing every MIDI device ever created at them.

I don't know everything but I think the best idea would be for Presonus to participate on the forum maybe not as much as they used to, because I'm sure there's a good reason they don't (even though I bought the program because I liked the fact they were accessible), but just enough to comment on stuff like this.

It is a problem with S1 deleting AND altering files. Mistere if you would've read what I said properly surely you wouldn't be making snobbish sarcastic comments.

My question was if just deleting the periods from the track names would be enough to solve the problem or should I go into my vst folder and rename all of my vst's with out any periods.

I've admitted I could be wrong. You haven't. So who exactly is the snob?

I don't know if deleting the periods from the tracks names would solve your problem or if you should go into your VST folder and rename all your VSTs without any periods, but I was glad someone else pointed out a clue that could help your problem. That makes me sarcastic?

You attack both Presonus and forum members trying to help you indiscriminately. Good luck getting your problem solved when you spread that kind of bad will around.

I do think there is a bug lurking there somewhere. I say that because it's happened to a few people so it's probably not just a coincidence. Not sure if it's only the "period in the name thing" or not but that does seem like a good avenue to investigate.

Even if it is the "." thing, it's maybe still a bug and (maybe) they should insert code to strip those and/or stop it from happening otherwise.

On another general topic: Some software bugs are more difficult to pinpoint than others. The really tricky ones (imo) are the ones where there's no really good way to reliably recreate them, and this might be one of those, not sure. Obviously, if you can easily recreate something happening bad, it's easier to trace it back to where the fault is.

yeah.... I realized that every-time this happens, S1, is using a heck of a lot RAM.
