I want color adjusting big time. Nice illustrations!
I have Reaper, and I've found that when given full reign of adjusting too many items, two things happen.
1. The look of the program can actually lose its identity.
2. Adjusting the wrong items can quite literally make one lose detail on the screen. The ability to change borders to adjoining surface planes, things can go wrong very quickly. They have completely provided too many color parameter options and it can actually get out of control in the wrong hands. In the right hands, it's very cool, but I end up playing and tinkering instead of making music. Just me.
Call me silly, but I'd rather be creating music.
Suggestion: As a reference, check out DP. They have something like 15 preset skins (still adjustable though) and offers some good general color tones to use and are quickly accessible. This is a really nice touch and makes sense to me.
You can click on the 15 examples here as a reference. http://www.motu.com/products/software/dp/
Also, PT has a pretty nice handle on color control, but I think S1 can go one better.
Avoid any coloration tips from Cubase. Lesson there being how to ruin a DAW with color.
Lastly, Logic seems to have a pretty neutral obligatory gray, but its fairly ok. Again, I think S1 will have them beat, when they adopt color.
With S1 there should be a standard setting for color as it is now (Call it "Classic") for those purists who just simply like how S1 looks right now. I being one of them. I do like to change off now and then so I'm hoping the DP option gets some attention.
This is often a widely if not most requested FR, so I wouldn't worry about it getting the actual attention.
How it's adopted remains to be seen, but I'm optimistic!
Nice illustrations jpettit! Always a plus when actual samples are given. Way to go. If nothing else, it gives a feel for what could be.

Yeah, I really like how the color icons are a small representation of the color scheme, representing buttons, LED, surfaces, etc.
I would hope that Presonus adopt this in the form of a fly out, where you click on an icon, and the color templates are then displayed (saves room this way). Then select a individual icon representing that color scheme, and wollah!
Do I have to go down to Baton Rouge and shake things up?
I mean that with a dash of humor, and an equal dash of "Let's go. Do we have to wait until next year sometime for things like color to happen?".

I like 1, 2, and 3 in jpettit's last section of his first post in this topic. It would be nice to have the option to have the same track, channel and waveform be the same color.
Personally, I hate spending time messing with the colors so asking for better automation of them may not be what I favor or like.
I usually let the current 'auto' colors go unless I really have a problem area or event that needs to really stand out.

I would also like the browsers tabs to have different colors. For example the Instrument tab green the effect tab blue etc. The track Inspector and the record panel also could have a different hue. Since Studio One biggest asset is its workflow, different color schemes greatly enhances workflow and colors also helps ones disposition. So Studio One developers listen to your customers and add more colors. Also make your graphics more vivid and bolder. Thank You.
Hi. I would prefer the 1st, the dark skin.
But If Presonus would implement this skin(s) they should do this as follow:
Choose skin during installation of S1.
Not implemented in S1 itself.
Reason:
No additional blow up of the program!!! VERY IMPORTANT!!!!
Keep it Clean
Hope you Know what i will tell you..
Greetings
Tom
I'm still quite new to this forum, so sorry if this has been already mentioned somewhere.
I don't like how the option "Draw events translucent (grid shines through) changes all the colors of the tracks.
Here is how it looks without:
And with the option enabled:
It looks awful.
Like a nice colorful T-Shirt that has been washed 1000 times
Not only the grid shines through, but also the dark background, which is the reason for the change of colors.
I think it should be no problem to let just the grid shine through and leave the colors untouched.
