Well that is the first I've heard of anyone being able to do so on either platform, and it was always my understanding that Capture operation is strictly tied to an SL device. Are you on Mac/ML? Why can't I reproduce functionality with any of my devices/systems? Why have I never heard of anyone being able to do this before or seen it discussed here?

Yes ... I'm now running ML (10.8 ) on a Mac Book Pro. It also functioned on SL (10.6.8 ).

It's likely that it has not previously been discussed here since we are primarily focused on the functionality of the Studio Live.

It was briefly mentioned on the Sound Forums Network a while back.

Any PreSonus staff lurking that want to chime in on this? I'd love to hear something official on this topic.

Hi,

I run the support group here at PreSonus, moderators asked if we could answer your question.

Capture is exclusive to StudioLive customers as part of the StudioLive software package that ships with your StudioLive mixer. While Capture may function with other FireStudio devices. It is only officially supported and intended for use with the StudioLive mixers and the only way to download Capture currently is to have a SL Board registered in your account.

talmen wrote:Yes, Mono, you are right -- spongebob, sorry, you are mistaken. Capture absolutely will not work with anything but an SL (unless there is an exception for an SL chained to another FS-family device, but I don't think that is the case, either). Capture was conceived as proprietary/device specific, and there has never been any intention for it to be open to working with other hardware. If you have gotten it to play with another device I'd love to hear how you did it and see some evidence of your success, because I don't think it is possible. S1, however, can work with virtually any interface.

I can use Capture on my FSM or FSP, works just fine. When I'm done recording, I click on the RecordingName.capture file and S1 opens up with all the tracks in it. I did no configuration on Capture, don't think there is any, it just came up working. This is using a PC, not Mac.

Very interesting. I have never had it recognize any interface other than my SL. I tried all 6 interfaces I had lying around at home, and none of them can be selected/show up in the audio device area (including an AB22VSL and AB1818VSL). I amazed I had never seen any discussion of this before. I keep a pretty close eye on the forum, and I know I would have recalled if there was significant discussion of this (as I am a really big fan of Capture, and have always silently wished I could use it with other hardware).

Thanks for the response, Alex.
