Just for the record, PreSonus in no way condones nor supports "Jail Broken" IOS devices of any kind. This would be something that you do at your own risk.

If "Jail Break" your IOS device you void the manufacturer's warranty and Presonus cannot guarantee the reliability of the app on a jail broken IOS. I don't think you understand what happens when you jail break IOS devices. You loose support from Apple. They do not support their device if it is jail broken and since they are the one's who qualified our app to work with their IOS, then logically we have to follow suite as we in no way test apps to be used nor do we condone the jail breaking of any kind. It is a use at your own risk type of thing at that point.

Listen, I am frustrated, and it gets out sometimes.

The reason I said "Wow" and am considering losing my ability to get service is because neither you (Presonus), nor the ever more rule making Apple, are willing to assist a dedicated customer of both companies with a simple app fix. It has to be absolutely simple to just put one person's email into an app so the FREE app can be reloaded by a customer who they could verify has legally and properly downloaded it in the past. All I have heard from either is essentially the few persons affected by these issues are not worth the time.

I appreciate your concern that I will lose the ability to rely on my iPad or Apple service if I alter it. I genuinely do.

Surely you can understand that I have lost the ability to effectively use both my iPad and my StudioLive for the purpose I purchased both... which is to make music and be profitable while I am at it. For Presonus personnel to express concern about losing function or the ability to use an app, considering where I am right now, hit me as more than ironic. It verged on insulting.

Really? . "Presonus cannot guarantee the reliability of the app" on my hardware? Like I would not have not already gotten that message long before jailbreaking was discussed.

Please, let's just leave it alone. I, and those other Presonus faithful who are also in my position, will be stuck where I am until there is another version firmware. I have gotten the message.

You are not understanding what I have previously explained to you. There is NO way that I can revert your SL Remote software. I cannot, Apple cannot at all. I do not know who seeded the idea in your brain that it was at all possible, sadly it is not posible and never will be. We are working feverishly on the next release of UC that will fix this one issue you are having a problem with as well as address a few more new features that I cannot discuss publicly.

I am in no way trying to deny you any kind of service, or support. What you are asking simply is not possible to do. As I have previously explained, Apple only updates in a forward directions and does not carry "legacy" or older versions of apps like ours on their site. Presonus cannot fix this nor can Apple. There is no denial of service or support here. I have and will continue to be honest with you about this.

You can attempt the "Jail Break" as you have previously stated, I honestly do not think that it will work. It will also put you in the position where neither company can or will help you with your hacked IOS device that neither Apple or Presonus supports.

If you can just hang on and let us get a maintenance update together you will have you issue fixed, but there is no going backwards in IOS app versions. It is how Apple operates and our agreement with them reflects their rules of operation.

You are not understanding what your customers are saying to you.

You made the app. You designed every part of it. Apple controls the app release and what can and cannot be done with it. You keep using the phrase "no way" as though none of you has the capability, knowledge, or resources to make it happen. The truth is that you cannot do this within the rules you have created.That part I do understand. What you need to grasp is that this mean you will not do it, not that you cannot do it... as though it isn't possible at all. My God, man, it's software... you program it not the other way around.

I do understand the situation completely. THIS CANNOT BE DONE UNDER THIS BUSINESS MODEL WITHOUT VIOLATING BUSINESS AGREEMENTS NOW IN PLACE. I get it. You can't blame me for hoping and investigating to find out if there was some way to get an exception in a seriously bad circumstance. I asked questions up every avenue that could be investigated. I am that way... I don't say can't until I have exhausted all possibilities, which I have.

No one is asking you or Presonus to advocate jail breaking. In some case, this happens because there is simply no other way. The device belongs to the owner, who decides if the repercussions are worth the needed change. At this moment, it isn't. Whether it will become so depends on how long the fix takes. In my small business market, the appearance of inability to provide seamless sound can be a death blow. If it gets to that, busting an iPad and throwing the thing away when the problem is fixed is not a bad business decision.

This is about working, about reputation, about the appearance of professionalism. This issue hurts all of those for me. I could give a damn about Apple's rules if those rules compromise service to my customers. They don't have that right.

Now, please. We understand each other. You're not proving anything here, and neither am I. It's a bad situation, so let's not make it worse.

I noticed a reference to Smaart in VSL/UC 1.7 as part of a presentation in the PreSonuSphere itinerary. Can you give us a release time frame on the long-awaited cure for my blues?

Even a rough time line would be cool, just to have something to look forward to on the horizon.

I was just glad to see it was even being mentioned in print!

PreSonus does not distribute timelines of our releases before we know that the release is complete and coordinate a Press Release.

Rick, I'm very sorry to hear about your problems. I hope that this eventually is resolved properly for you.

But this is an interesting thread for a non-devotee of Apple, like myself.

I'm in the Android camp, although I reluctantly have started to learn about the Dark Side's ways, since I have to use an iPad for SL Remote. But this discussion makes me wonder: are there Apps for i-products that let you "back up" your apps locally on your device? I haven't investigated this yet.

There are indeed many Android apps which do this; I personally use (and like) "AppMonster Pro" for my Android devices. It has come in handy on several occasions.

It automatically makes a local backup copy (in either onboard or removable memory) of any app that I install on my devices, AND of any upgrade to most any app which I have purchased, and most free apps.

So on my Android devices, I can always open the AppMonster app, browse my backups, and re-install a previous version.

Priceless!

Backups can be done in iTunes. If you have an old backup you can completely roll back. You can even setup the device with an older system.

By the way: Most of the bugs I take notice of are not related to iOS or Presonus Apps. Many of them are related to VSL and the computer it is running on or the desk itself. I don't know about your problem, but maybe it is better to wait than to do a jailbreak, which can make everything even worse.

ola a todos amigos da pre sonus 16.4.2 sou do brasil estou tentando conectar minha mesa pre sonus 16.4.2 em um computador e note book mas não abre atela do universal controle já tentei em três computadores e um not book na pagina 3 do sistema tem uma mensagem que diz status no drive - unlinked tem como dar um resete na maquina para deixa do jeito que veio de fabrica para poder atualizar o firmware que esta em 1.13 , já abaixei as três versão do universal control mas nada deu certo como eu faço para conserta este pequeno erro...
