Another thing that I've been thinking about is that most software is made by and for "Westerners". The average person in Western Europe or North America will find software prices to be affordable. But the $400 we paid for Studio One, in other parts of the world represent a full month (or more!) of wages even for professional audio engineers.

Which is why products are usually priced with a bit of consideration to the exchange rate, inflation and budget of the average customer. But then again, all manufacturers have these issues.

Which culprits? It would be easier if you'd actually know who they are. Anyway, the only way to keep your customers happy and willing to invest is to have a good product that meets demands.

Don't for a second think that people that download software would actually buy the software if there were no downloads. Well some would, but most wouldn't.

When presonus release a new patch or upgrade, I can see a cracked version of studio one the day after release date included all those content package.

As a registered user ; I don`t feel that i am using an exclusive program when I see cracked s1 on internet. I am against cracked softwares specially for studio one but at the same time I don`t like dongled software either.

Is presonus going to something about it? Create a "non-crackable" software?

I really hate that all those wannabes can use our content and software that we purchased and join to the presonus forum for asking technical help...

Presonus deserves every penny with studio one. IMO.

BITCH ABOUT IT. for fucks sake you felt the software was worth it, dont bitch that the OBVIOUS has happened. instead, sell your software and kindly go download the crack. thanks!

They can't really unless nobody official calls them on it. Some just don't know it yet.

OTOH, it's easy to get help with software anywhere one the net so.... trying to stop it would be like herding cats.

There is also the view that all of this "try before you buy" warez stuff ticks off companies mainly because folks can try it out & see if the company are selling a working product that does what they claim, or is it a bug fest & the buyers are just paying for the privilege of being beta testers.....and they can not stand that.

No matter WHAT the reason, you take a HUGE chance of getting a nice virus or "phone home" package when using this stuff....is it worth that?

And not to mention some cracks are badly done and provide a very unstable and buggy 'try before you buy' version. Hence you're still not able to determine if the software is any good.

If they try to use the forums the Presonus moderators can see if it is a legit user based on their registration details. We had a few cases like that in the past and those a-holes got identfied, stoned and banned pretty quick.

Just wondering why you'd be hanging out in warez places. (Oh you read the articles...?)

I can talk about it for months without stopping. Living in a 3rd world country, I know how some piece of software can be expensive without rhyme or reason.

To facilitate something, I'll give a example. Since, S1 is reasonably priced IMO(you can buy the pro version with a little more than 1 month of minimal wage salary, which is BRL 540.00 BTW), let's pick NI Komplete 8 Ultimate:

-Price in USD- 1099.00
-Price in BRL converted without taxes- 2040.00
-Price in BRL in online stores of the UPGRADE(which goes for USD 559.00)- 2049.00

Now I ask, who on earth will waste 4 months of their salary just to buy a piece of software? Nobody!

Sorry to say, but you probably aren't the primary demographic for NI to target their products on.

The primary demographic of any software company is people with money. Period.

I also forgot the discussions curfew. I might retire.

If i can add my 2cents please. I use to be a pirated software user cAant lie why lie probley half the people on here has done it one time or another. NEVER used a crack s1 though but the day i paid for s1v1pro thats when my music got better!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!. I guess cause i paid 200$ for it so i was gona learn the software one way or the other! It also made me respect recording software to!. I mean i had 4-5000$ in cracked software NOT no more!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!. In a way i dont blame people who dont know what there doing getting there hands on cracked software and start making music i mean if u poor 200$ is alot for software but also people think that if its 5000$ it will make u sound like a pro.I found out the hard way and i just spent 150$ for the s1v2 upgrade the best 150$ i spent!!!.

Its not right i do agree but i feel good knowing i can call presonus with no problem u cant do that with cracked software!!!! matter afact im throwing away all my cracked software now i dont use them but still have them on a disc.We as legal users shouldnt be bent up about this just be proud ur legal and be greatfull u have the money to buy it!. The internet makes it easy to get a hold of anything! we better be glad we can only get software from the internet!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!.But to end this not I AM A PROUD 100% Legal owner of s1v2 i also ment some great people on here on these forms all because i went the Legal rout!

Hoping this doesn't get into curfew. But it's a interesting fact about piracy:

of course there are some positive things to use registered daw. for example i got my cross-grade just because i was a registered cubase user.

I don`t know maybe its just me who feel sorry about s1. because since 2004 i never thought that i would change my cubase to another daw so easy before i found s1. i`m just loving it and i feel i am special with s1. that is the biggest reason that i checked if there is cracked s1 out there. now i have to avoid using all exclusive content that comes with s1. there are 140.000 electronic music producer at beatport and there is war between them. those contents are used already by other electronic producers before i release some stuff with using content.

as you realize to get paid or make money between those 140.000 artists i have to be original with content and software. once you create a better / different track with some secrets (like using s1) it`s gonna get you more gigs. its obvious s1 is my best purchase ever in my music carrier.

with all my respect i hope you get me right..
