Still skeptical about Thunderbolt/Lightpeak. Again, not enough data to prove most statements.

Our lead software designer is using 2 thunderbolt displays with his Macbook Pro for a Dual monitor setup (with the MB Pro sitting in an aluminum cradle). As far as I can tell, its the wave of the future! (he certainly believes in it).

that said, we do have to wait for the technology to "pan out" a bit before designing devices around it. PC's will need to be onboard with the technology for it to truly be viable.

But when it does become viable, it's going to be f***king awesome. I just ordered a new Macbook Pro and I can't wait.

What I expect is some kind of USB 2.0/Firewire hybrid interface, so they can finally make a product on par with the (now discontinued) Firestudio 2626.

Then what your are saying is that you want Thunderbolt, as it is backward compatible with Firewire/USB 2.0 and 3.0. The only real question is if the market will adopt it, no reason they shouldn't but you never know.

Make it idiot proof, and someone will make a better idiot!

I wouldn't hold my breath on getting a new interface/controlsurface at this NAMM, although I could be wrong... I would look for other things that have been in the works for a while... just sayin'.

Belkin had announced back in September a Thunderbolt expansion hub that gave additional Firewire 800, USB 2.0, Ethernet, and Thunderbolt ports. Haven't heard anything about it since though. That would be absolutely perfect for me since I could use my Macbook's built in Firewire port for my StudioLive 16.4.2 and my Firewire 800 Hard Drive on the extra port in the hub.

There's serious doubt it will see the light of day though, from a business perspective. But I would love to have it. MacBook Air only has TB.

All of the current Macs except the Mac Pro have Thunderbolt now. Macbook Pro, Macbook Air, Mac Mini, and iMac all have it.

I, of course, cannot divulge any business secrets. But, there are things that have been asked for, waited on, etc... Some, but not all, of these things will be seeing the light of day!

do you hear that? "buzzzzzzzzz zzzzzzz zzzzzzz"

LOL

Oh man, I hope so. AC-7 is OK, but a dedicated S1v2 controller app would be a no-brainer purchase for me.

I bet they will bring a new version of studiolive with controller function and more channels, and motorized faders. I mean, It would be just a logical move. Like a studiolive + faderport on steroid. THAT would be truly a game changer (once again).
I saw somewhere a news that presonus is cooking something with Rational Acoustics, which is known for their Smaart Measurement Software. I really can't wait.

Wrong. I never said that.

My main grudge point here is that everyone is praising Thunderbolt/Lightpeak only for it's speed. I searched high and low for more detailed specs about it and couldn't find anything signifcative. All articles and stuff only brag about one thing: how fast it is. AFAIK, speed is not everything when it comes to audio interfaces.

I'm putting much more faith in Ethernet or Gigabit Ethernet audio interfaces.
