Something to be outraged over. I just saw those prices.........wow.

I think they just lost me. I'll stick with version 9. I'm using S1 pretty exclusively now, anyhow -- I sure don't wan't to fork over that much to them for features that S1 already has. I thought getting into PT9 was expensive, but I felt it was warranted given the fact that they were opening it up to use with non-Digi/Avid hardware. Not sure I see any real benefit in upgrading, at least not at present.

Now I know we all love our Studio 1, and it has an awesome audio engine and feature set, and workflow, etc. and comes from a great company with a human face, but I find it amasing to always hear people saying stuff like Pro-tools sounds bad, or is only 32 bit, or whatever. Yes, they are constanly dipping into you pocket and difficult to deal with, but come on people. Like it or not, that platform is used on jprobably 99% of commercial music releases as well as advertising, TV and Films. All the stuff that the majority of the world buy. So to say it' sounds bad or no good, is total rubbish. Sure S1 and Logic may sound a little better to our ears, but that doesn't make Tools bad, and in the big picture, nobody out there cares, or knows.

32 bit has nothing to do with sound quality (at least in the reference we are using) 64 bit OS/computer is almost exclusively useful for accessing more ram.
Besides, protools claims they are the best sounding (no, seriously, right on the front of this video)
For someone who is in the game, there is no denying what PT can do. I think there are three things though really red-flag imho.
The price to upgrade: OMG!
The video which is even lamer and more insulting than previous attempts
No x64 but ruder that they are saying PT11 will have it. Oh, thanks
But then again, this is all just yak as I'm firmly entrenched in reaper and am now learning S2 (damn cakewalk for not allowing transfers )

Don't forget - Avid is also aiming PT to be an integrated part of the MediaComposer suite and this is quite a biggie if you've ever tried to work with video/movie/film stuff.

Exactly. That's why it is amusing to see people trying to belittle it. Whether anyone likes it or not, it is the behemoth of professional audio production worldwide, As they say, you can take a Tools session into any Pro facility in the world and you're good to go.
