Fire Studio Mobile is stuck on Solid Blue when its not connected to the computer!

Hey,

I have had the presonus firestudio mobile for about 2 years now and I have never had a problem with it until today.

I cannot get it to connect with my computer, even though the firewire is completely powering the firestudio. Usually I plug it in and I have the red and blue lights flash until I make the connection (through ableton) and it turns a solid blue.

Now the blue light stays on instead of blinking before its connected, and neither ableton nor the universal control is recognizing the firestudio for inputs and outputs.It even is completely blue when the computer is not connected and the power supply is powering the firestudio.

As there is no visible reset button, can someone please suggest how I should fix this?

Unplug it from the mains and plug it back.

That was obviously the first thing I did. like i said I've had the thing for 2 years and have been able to troubleshoot every problem up until this one.

I have plugged it in with all 4 combinations (power supply + adapater, just adapter, just power supply) let it chill for an hour or so unplugged, then tried again.

Its also not registering any signal from the inputs anymore. fvck.

Could be a technical problem. Check with the team

Solid blue when powered but not connected is a dead givaway that it's failed internally. It will need to go home to be fixed.

Really? What could cause this to happen?

I've had the same problem with two FSM. I've treated them very well - never bumped, dropped, spilt on, heated, exposed to humidity or anything.

Occasionally it'll connect for maybe 10 minutes before reverting to solid blue. But I think it's just a couple months out of warranty now. I've already submitted it to tech support, but I've had this unit for about 9 months, not used much (cause I've been busy with uni) and now it can't even connect. I'm pretty upset about it.

Erick,

Open up a tech support ticket. If the unit does need service, sending it back to Presonus (if in the US) will get the unit repaired and will give you a new 1 year warranty.
