If the FireStudio Mobile is both plugged into power through a rack mount power distributer AND via FireWire to my iMac; when turning off the power distributer... should the FSM turn off?

Or possibly riddle me this:

Is there ANY way I can power off the FSM without physically unplugging the FireWire cable? I'm dying here....

No you can't as the FW cable will keep the FSM powered. This is only on the full FW cable, the 4 pin doesn't power (used on most PC laptops with build-in FW). You could short the two wires in the cable that pass the power, but I'm not sure how to do that.

But why would you need to specifically power down the FSM?

You don't want to short the power wires in the cable! You may want to open them, cut them.

I fairly often unplug the power cord to my FSM to reset it if it won't sync up to my PC. I have a 4 pin FW cable.

Right, cutting, what I meant. Sorry, not a native English speaker.
