Hi all,

As the subject says i am using a GAP 73 pre with my FS project to for a different sound of pre.
I am using the return on the back to bypass the XMAX pre totally, apparently!!

So why do i still have gain control (Front panel dials) on the Project? When ever i used external pres on my last system using return it bypassed everything and only did the A/D conversion which is what i want to do.

I don't understand why it is like this. If i were to use an external compressor with the FS it would be adding gain after the Compressor! Makes no sense..

So in theory i may aswell just use the line in on the front of the FS Project for external pres..

Incase this matters i am using the Balanced out of the GAP 73 and balanced in into the FS project as it has balanced inputs.

All comments welcome. Jason harris if you could please comment too that would be great.

Cheers

If you're connecting through the 1/4 balanced ins then it will bypass the pre altogether. The control you have at that point should only be for the A/D converter.

I'm not looking at the block diagram but that should be how it works.

No I'm not a freaking pilot!! The Air Force won't let me have a suit with a zipper...or sometimes shoestrings.

My advice and suggestions should never be considered advice or suggestions. These are mostly insane ramblings of a poor aircraft mechanic who can, strangely enough, still hear.
