That's a very valid point. If only simpler by Ableton was a vst I'd be set.

One of the coolest things about Drummer: Want to tweak the pattern? Drag the drummer region to a midi track, it's auto converted to midi. Tweak it and drag the midi region back to the drummer track* and voila! Drummer plays the tweaked midi track.

Incredibly cool.

The newest SOS has their usual comprehensive review out this month.

* - Or drag it to Slate Drums, BFD, whatever.

That's right. Use the drummers groove and intelligence to lay down the track and then, if you prefer an external sample library, it's a snap.

Agree also, the mentioned SOS article is excellent.

Some other things to consider, you can set the articulation from GM to v-drum and record some frilly fills manually with the Roland kit ( if needed)

Also, very cool is setting the Drummer track as the project's groove track, enabling flex audio and ticking the respective tracks. Such audio tracks (bass, keys etc) will miraculously follow the groove the drummer does. Incredible timesaver for a songwriter/one man band...

It's the very reason why I consider the Logic drummer better than a live drummer. Judging by some of the responses above, my statement is controversial, however no live drummer could deliver the mentioned actions without interrupting the workflow.

Lastly, the Logic Arrange Track. Anybody agree that is the coolest and most ingeniosus way to arrange song sections? Just drag them around. (If labelled intro, verse, outro etc the Drummer will give the appropriate thang to you.)

I was just wondering for those of you using S1 on Mac, how do you find the performance in Logic X by comparison? Track count differences % wise, etc.?

More tools and better stability. I would recommend it until S1 becomes more stable on mac. With that being said if s1 continues at it's rate of awesomeness by time its Studio One x. It will probably be the best daw out there.

To my my eyes it's GarageBand++, the only thing left over from the eMagic days are the Klunky Effects GUI's(and perhaps the Effects themselves). Don't get me wrong in my opinion Garageband is a pretty fair sequencer in it's own rights. As has been said you can't beat the price for the features the only sad thing is it's Mac only.....

I'de prolly stick with Studio One.

Logic X just got updated to 10.0.5 with nice new EQ.

Here is the HUGE list with all improvements: http://support.apple.com/kb/TS4498

Plus much more CPU optimizations and fixes. Their updates are moving fast and bigger. I hope to see Studio One following this steps. FASTER and BIGGER!

Yup... I installed the update today without even reading the list of fixes.. it was lumped in with some other updates I had to do. After updating I opened up a project and did a complete double-take when I saw the Channel EQ!

But keep in mind that there are no upgrades in the App Store, so you'll have to pay the full price again for the next major version.

Yes, but it's not a Logic-relating thing...this is the real limit of the Apple store. I don't understand why they don't allow the developers to create update plans for their software...who knows

Edit: anyway I bought Logic X just because of the new Drummer (and I use Logic just for that) which is a very nice feature when composing.

You're not alone my friend. That's why the big next step for me is to get a f**** expansive MAC, mainly here in Brazil where it can costs even the price of a car. Thanks all taxes and corrupts politicians...
