Tommy Emmanuel

Not that this has anything to do with PreSonus, but I just have to tell you guys.

A bunch of us went to hear Tommy Emmanuel tonight in Baton Rouge.

Holy toledo.

If you haven't heard this guy, you need to check him out.

I felt like I saw some history tonight.

Does anyone know what type of guitar pickups he uses???

Small world... I just bought a Fender Twin from one of the guitarists who is touring with Tommy. I live in New Zealand !!

A Chet Atkins "Certified Guitar Player." I've never seen him in person, but I was quite impressed with his playing in that TV show that PBS stations run during fund raising.

Tommy is one of the best guitar players in the world and also a great person. I attended one of his siminars. If you play guitar and get a chance catch him...very inspiring!

But really, you could put strings on a 2x4 and Tommy would make it sound great! It's all in his fingers.

I've seen TE ( CGP) perform here in Uk several times and am convinced he's got two brains, one for his thumb and one for the rest of his digits....unbelievable what the guy can do and how he makes those Matons sound. He's on a different planet to most players. BTW, I just recorded a live session at our local blues club here in Yorkshire England. using the Studiolive 24...a.guy by the name of Larry Garner, from Baton Rouge!!

Indeed...what a great musician!! I keep a list of guitarist I want to see live and Tommy is definitely in that list. He not just great technically, but plays with tremendous feeling and emotion.

I've just uploaded my very first youtube video as a test and this is a session that I filmed and recorded the Fall-2009 here in Sweden. I have over an hour of recorded material that I eventually will edit

He's trying the Sandén guitar with True Temperament frets and was very exited about it.

Recording equipment was built-in B-band into REDDI, akg c1000 and Neumann tlm103. Everything went into a FP10 being used as an preamp for my alesis hd24.

Btw, I found it quite difficult to capture and mix that kind of expressive playing Emil was performing on an acoustic guitar.

It would have been so much easier to do a full band mix with his guitar.

However, as a single instrument I had to rethink my strategy totally but I think the outcome became quite nice....
